That raises the question. What resolution do our eyes see live every day?

It raises a lot of questions.....I mean perhaps the brain needs to be manipulated. I mean....many people do not know this, but our eyes actually see things upside-down and our brain transfers it and flips it.

There are volumes that have been written on the subject, so to say it's complicated would be a massive understatement.
Without going into a huge amount of detail, suffice it to say that none of our current source formats on most of the display sizes we use even come close to exceeding visual acuity of an average 20/20 viewer.
In every story about 4k or 8k, you'll always get one or two morons that have seen Carlton Bale's 1080p Does Matter or his Does 4k Matter article, have read it for five or ten minutes, look at the graph, and have concluded that because his article says so, nobody will be able to even see the difference between 1080p and 4k. Of course, they misinterpret what Carlton Bale is saying (which is somewhat debatable in the first place), and then draw large untenable conclusions from it.
The question I always ask people when they start this "4k is useless" line of BS is this: "When you're sitting in your theater, are you ever startled or fooled into thinking your screen is actually a window to the outside? No? Then, we don't have enough resolution."
When I hear somebody say that, it's also readily apparent they've never actually SEEN 4k with a good source on a good display and have only read others' comments to confirm their own personal bias.
Bring on the 4k, but give me a source I can actually watch on it. Until we have content, there isn't much to talk about.

I don't know Steve but the Hobbit: An unexpected journey in 4K looked pretty damn near close to looking through a window;-)
When I saw it last December in a brand new state of the art 4K theater it was the sharpest, most colorful and deep image I've ever seen.
Blu-Ray at home hasn't taken off anywhere near studio and industry expectations (not the way DVD did). 4K content seems a long way off and as you said until it arrives the discussion is moot.

Crabb knows what I think. Without getting into another argument with the Northern Europe guys, give me good 4k content. Upscaled BR just doesn't do it for me.
As for CES, my best friend went. Until I call him (and I have been in a bad mood the last couple of days) I won't get the inside scoop. I did tell him to drop by JVC to check out the new DI equipped pjs. I also told him to check out the Quantum Dot displays. The main things he will check out are the gaming booths and the phone/mobile device booths.

I did that in 2011 for the phone/mobile booths. Sucked into what was then this Android phone from Motorola called the Atrix. Lots of bells a whistles and I had everything for it. 1 1/2 years later all support was dropped!

Unfortunately no. I let myself be talked into doing work for this "high end" furniture store and now they owe me $2200 and won't return my phone calls. I have about a grand in expenses on it and probably more time than I care to admit in work. Oh well, at least my worker made some money on the deal at my expense. Never again!!!

A couple of things: Can you put a lien on the building? Or, if the furniture belongs to a customer, can you lien his building? That costs $50 here in Canada, but you need to do it within 45 days I think of the invoice date. Check your laws. A lien against a building, esp if the furniture guy is renting will get the landlord's attention quickfast. Ditto if you put a lien on a customer's building.
Otherwise there is small claims...

In the US you can only put a lien on real property after the case has been ruled in the defendants favor and "ONLY" if the real property is in that defendants name only. If more then 1 name and all names are not part of the suit then forget it. They don't even percentage it.
Your best bet would to be to sue the business owner for the maximum allowed in that jurisdiction which is 5,000. Even though the amount owed is less, you sue for the max and let the court decide the amount. Of course usually when the defendant sees this much larger amount they tend to want to resolve it without the court, lol. File fee should be less then 100 bucks and you can usually get some if not all back if you withdraw. You can ask this at the time of file. Just add what you wont get back the the amount owed if they want to settle.

County court in the jurisdiction of the store. Not where you live, if different.

Before you go actually file a claim, I would spend half an hour to write a professional, but stern letter… Something to effect that they have 14 days (or until a certain date) to make payment in the amount of $2200 for the contracted work performed on whatever date. If payment isn't received by such date, you will direct your attorney to file a lawsuit in whatever court, and that the lawsuit will be not just for the past due amount, but also late penalties (you do have late penalties described in your invoices, right?) plus damages in the amount of (whatever you decide; court costs, hassle for docking with it - like Mac said, whatever the max is for small claims). Send it certified, return-receipt.
The letter may just get their attention. They're probably behind on other stuff too, and you're just too low on the list. You can't be a squeaky wheel because they won't answer your call. Force them to listen to your squeak. The certified letter may just move you to the front of the line.
Another alternative if you don't want to go through the lawsuit trouble is a collection service. You'll give up 50% of the debt, but a good service is very likely to collect because they're *******. If you got half, at least you'd be back in the black in the terms of your real expenses.
People suck.

I appreciate the ideas. I threw a Hail Mary today and I actually talked to one of the two people I deal with. He said he has been swamped and will need me next week. After I get paid, I will decide what I am going to do. Three weeks ago, he was hot to have me back doing more work. All of a sudden he is so busy he can't take my calls. Oh well, I will see how it goes. Enough OT, now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Talked to my friend. The Nvidia K1 chip is pretty awesome. Lots and lots of curved panel tvs. I think there was another microconsole coming out.
His big thing was a company that has an interesting take on gambling. What you do is bet someone that you can beat them at a game. You each put in $1 and the winner gets $1.50. Not sure if he met these guys at CES or they called him at the same time.

Will someone explain curved screen LCDs for me. What's the point? Less glare? I saw Sony's at CEDIA, and didn't see the big deal.

My friend was saying the same thing. I thought I read somewhere that it was a manufacturing thing. Easier to make it curved?

I thought the new Sony curved screens were OLED. I was just reading this last week. Or is this something else.
