Hi Fearn,

Good to find another Brit!

These are the settings I'm using at the moment with my HTPC and Powerstrip.

Having just re-tubed, I'm just enjoying a bit of viewing time at the moment. I'm highly delighted with the colours and the "pop" they have. I'll be having a go at more combinations soon and trying to get more corner sharpness.

My dilemma is that it seems to be accepted that the corners will never be as sharp but I've got no reference to know how sharp it can be.

Funnily enough, my machine came from a chap in Reading......

Cheers,

Paul

you can do scheimpflug in 1209s, the coner focus will be almost as sharp as center.
I own 1209/2 without orinigal scheimpflug function, but still can do it, now the whole pictuer focus almost same, in 1209/2, loosen the screw in lenses adjust it, 1209s does have scheimpflug function, you can find it in manual.

Hi Anthony,

Yes, I believe my Scheimflug is working fine. I can wind it through it's full range of adjustment and see the focus sharpen and then go soft again.

The devil lies in the detail. It is almost as sharp as the centre..... but how much is almost?

I use a screen of small text for fine focus and the corners, whilst legible, are softer and less bright than the centre. Without the knowledge of other units, or one nearby to reference, I suppose I'm just slightly disappointed it's not a bit closer.

Maybe I'm a being a little harsh on the machine with such a technical test and should concentrate on the traditional CRT strengths.

It looks great with a film up! Very Happy

Cheers,

Paul

HD120 is good lense for more than 90 inch diagonal 16:9 screen(HD10L for less than 90), I ues HD120 in my 1209/2 to project 123 inch 16:9 screen, maybe you can find a large screen.
1209s can not reslove 1080p well, we can not see the sacn line with 1080p signal, but 720p is pretty much clear,I think if you can see 720p scan line in 80 inch 4:3, detail is all presented.

I also have HD120 lenses and a relatively small screen so I'm hoping that a larger screen may give better results.

I don't doubt it'll be sharper at 720 but I was led to believe that, not only could it resolve 1080, it could do it sharply. Maybe I was naive and didn't do enough reading but, hey ho, we are where we are right now.

HOWEVER.....

I was in the middle of experimenting with different resolution/scan rates last night when the machine failed on me ....... again......

The EHT Off lights are lit on the EHT module. Together with lights on the Vertical board and Quad board.

All the G2 diagnostic lights are fine so I'm assuming my PS is ok and it's a quad/splitter/EHT failure........ again.. Evil or Very Mad

If I hadn't just re-tubed the bloody thing it would be on the way to the tip......

Depressed in blighty. Sad

Hi Pm,
If you want to compare shapnes with my setup, and you don't mind the journey, your more than welcome to pop over to se my setup in Reading.

I know who you mean when you brought it from a chap in Reading. I didn't meat him, but was gutted when I realised his company had closed, and he had taken up a permanent job. I was saving up to get him to do the magnetic focus, as I did not fancy doing it with the tube base board that covered the adjustment. However, by the time I had sorted out the graphics upgrade, it was too late. I did the magnetic focus adjustment in Christmas week, with the help of my girlfriend. We are both very pleased with the picture now. Especially as I have also also done a colour alignment with Cromer pure auto adjust. It took an hour with my company meeter, as it is a serial link, but the pic is awesome...... If i do say so my self.

Timings
I have included some pictures of my timing settings. They are probably as alien to you as yours are to me, but I hope it helps.😊Smile

My Scheimflug adjustment is at its maximum, to get the corners near sharp. I believe my lenses are HD10 but as they are RUNCO, they are missing the identification. I think my projector so too close to my screen for Scheimflug to work fully. I cannot move the projector back as I cannot fit a bigger screen in between my speakers....... Yes the girlfriend is very patient. Smile

All the best.

so this is the res I have had issues with. It is within the bandwidth of the projector, but nearly at the max clock for my lumagen. It has worked fine for 10 or so films, but kept dropping out for a few seconds while watching Glad
