I just bought focus, vertical, horizontal and g2 boards.

I tried to swap also the boards just arrived today, NO FIX!

The projector behaves like if the EHT board was missing.
I checked many times the layout, swapped all boards, but the tubes not lit.

Have you tried the scan switches yet? Push them a few times, you may never know...

Yes, and I also sprayed liquid to reactivate contacts.

Have you tried control alt delete, jiggle the cord, turn it off and on or calling technical support?

I may have found the cause of the fault.
The switch of the scan inversion is broken inside.
I pressed and released the button many times but then finally it jumped.
The button was held in place by the spring but is broken.
So into the switch, the contacts not move and are probably shorted.

Now I need the parts working Embarassed

To replace this stupid switch I will have to completely disassemble the projector!

Darn! Me, I would just cut the connector to pieces, lift them out until I could see the solder holes from the top side, solder out the legs one by one, extend the legs of the new switch enough to be soldered from the top and solder it into place. If you don't plan on switching the scan any more, perhaps just solder in jumpers instead.

In the next few days, I will try to remove the bottom panel only.
I can not remove definitively this switch because the projector is for sale.

Makes sense.
If you give up trying to remove the bottom plate, I would still recommend the top side solder solution.

I'm really frustrated
The switches arrived (thank you Curt) but have not been able to resolve the fault.
I have two identical projectors with the same mysterious problem, a mountain of spare parts and I can not find the fault.
The board G2 says no HV .... why?

Hi,

I had two BG808 faults which resulted in a similar behaviour:

1.)
On the G2 Diagnostic Board there is a second SMPS. This didn't work and prevented the BG808 from producing HV.
Replacing IC179 (TDA4601) solved the problem. Interestingly enough, this SMPS produces the voltages for the Convergence and Focus drivers and therefore You would expect only those to fail, but no, it would kill the HV too.

2.)
Although more tricky in diagnosing the problem, the solution was surprisingly easy.
The projector had to be relocated. In order to remove it from its original position at the ceiling I had to disassemble it. This was the only way I could do it without help of other people. When it was reassembled and mounted at its new location: Dang! No HV, no picture and intermittent shutdowns. I do believe that the same LEDs were off on the G2 Board.
After hours of inspecting boards and taking measurements I found the cause:
The cable that goes from the controller board to the RGB Input was connected wrong! Instead of J6 it was plugged into J3 which is the input for the Port 3 Board. This might be the only two adjacent connectors with the same amount of pins that can be found in a Barco and I had managed to confuse them.

You might want to check these on Your machine...

I have three G2 boards (!!!) two matching with the projector serial number and one bought some days ago.
It's possible a contemporary fault of all boards? If yes I'm a very unlucky guy!

I've checked and rechecked many times, the controller cable is connected right Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Hi,

Another thing to be mentioned:
On either of Your main SMPS boards check resistor R134 (0.1 Ohm 0.4W fusible resistor). I had one SMPS where this resistor was blown and kept the EHT board inactive.

Thank you Barclay, I'll go to check the resistor.

However, according with service manual, the two leds of diagnostic board show "OVERVOLTAGE" condition or "STARTING UP OR NO +CONV"
The second led lit but no bright.

I checked several times the 17v on SMPS board.
I need to check somewhere else?

I think the second one (STARTING UP OR NO +CONV) because the second led is lit but no bright.

Shocked

I have three SMPS boards and ALL have this resistor that SEEM broken!

Perhaps a fault somewhere of the projector cause the burn of this resistor.
Very strange because the resistor externally appear no burned.

So when I swapped other SMPS boards, the fault has burned the resistor number R134 of each board.

p.s. The same resistor of the SMPS mounted on my (WORKING) BG1209s is good.

Hi,

none of the LEDs should be brighter than the others. If D253 (in my picture No. 10) is brighter then this is an indication of a problem.
Please see my picture below. Exactly which of the LEDs is on or off. As I understand, LED No. 8 is off (this is OK) and LED No. 10 is off (problem) and one of the other LEDs No. 1-7 is off. Which one?

Regards,
barclay66
