I believed until yesterday to have enough knowledge to solve small problems on my 808's.
I have to sell one and I started to assemble the various pieces .
After the installation the projector turn on, but no light from the tubes.
No red led on the EHT
No red leds somewhere.
I noticed that two green LED on the board g2 remain off.
Are the last in the row (next to the red led) and other towards the center of the board.

Ok ... no problem I thought ... I have another projector.

I take another and I mounted the various pieces .
At the end start the projector and the tubes light up regularly. OK!
This morning I go to turn on the projector and it show the same problem as the first.
No red red on EHT
No red leds somewhere.

I swapped ..
2 focus boards
3 horizontal deflection boards*
2 vertical deflection boards
2 pair of input and video driver boards
3 smps boards
2 g2 boards
2 eht boards
2 quads
The connections with the tubes (HV leads, yokes, neckboards ) are correct 'cause yesterday the tubes light up.
If I remove the convergence tray does not happen anything different.

* with a one horizontal boards of three, I noticed that the two green LEDs on the G2 finally come on but the projector goes into loop and several red leds light up.

Any suggestions?

It may be as simple as the master width adjustment on the SMPS. that's on the daughter board. Try rotating it a bit either way, powering the set off and on to reset the CPU, and see if it comes on.

Whatever you do, stick with the boards that gave you a picture! I've tried 'making up' a set in the past, and while it does work, it can throw additional problems into the set, as I've found out many times. Smile

BTW, losing two LEDs on the G2 board usually means that the HTHD has shut down, which is why you're getting no picture.

Also pull the convergence tray and see if the picture comes back.

Ok but I don't remember if the boards are the same, the projector's serial number help me.
Should be the same. Perhaps the paired of input and driver video boards not are the same ... uhm.

Yes I know
Rotating the trimmer P2 on smps daughter board, the red led on the G2 board "light on and light off" depending the trimmer positions.
Same results for the green led towards the center of the board.
The last green led next the red don't light never. I know that this green led must be light on.

The convergence tray is pulled.

I'm going to swap video boards (input and driver).

Can you swap all your spare boards into a working 808, to make absolutely sure that all your boards work? That would be the first thing I'd do.

They were two projectors fully functioning. One board can break but it's very improbable that two identical boards to break at the same time.

What Quad and EHT are you using? The frame may be set up for either the new or older quad and EHT. If you put the wrong ones in there is no HV and of course no picture. There is a jumper on the frame that needs to be either in place removed depending on the combination of EHT and Quad.

Did you check to see if the jumper is in place?

I'm sure that the older frames and older eht boards are unmodified.
I'm sure that this isn't the problem.

Are the heater glowing on the tubes?

Sounds like no or low G2 if tubes heaters are on.

Yes there are heater on the tubes and I tried to rotate the trimmers of G2.
Today I'll try to check deflection yokes.

Decibel,
I had a similar 808s issue. when I moved to a new house, I moved the PJ from the floor to the ceiling and had to change the scan polarity.
When I activated the PJ, it turned on, but I saw no picture on the screen.
I disconnected the PJs power cord and waited several hours. when I plugged it back everything went back to normal. give it a try.

Swap deflection yokes, focus yokes, power module and another splitter.

No fix!

I mean R7625035. I had to try more than one to get it right.
