TV/Projector: All of them!

Posted: Thu Jan 02, 2014 11:02 pm    Post subject: BIG NEWS for Barco 909 owners/potential owners

Hey gang, the Barco 909 projector was almost in the same league as the Sony G90.. few were made, fewer spare parts are out there, and as with the G90, the 909 has a chronic issue that I've seen a few times now.. bent raster lines!

Imagine a horizontal raster line having a tiny sine wave on top of it, so that the straight raster line goes up and down, up and down, across the picture. I narrowed this down to the main CPU board, but it took until the holidays this year to fix it.

I had a pile of defective CPU boards, most with this bending raster line issue, but I just fixed the first one, and am about to dive into the rest.

This now gives me some spare boards that I so badly needed, plus the confidence of being able to sell the 909 with renewed reassurance of having lots of spare parts.

I also got in a HUUUGE crate of defective Barco modules from a customer. I believe that I'll end up with these, as they probably don't want to spend the money to fix them, which means I'll have dozens of boards as spares.

LONG LIVE THE 909! Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Curt, that's serious good news because I have 2 controller boards with this issue.
Hope you can help me out to fix those on site.

Are you kidding? This is a secret held tighter than the Marquee secret access code. Smile

Seriously, this took over 80 hours of bench time over the last 2 years to figure out. I will be repairing the boards here only. It won't be cheap, but it will be far less than the $3500 that Barco wants for a new board. You'll need to send me the boards, sorry!

Says who? P19LQF were stock. Seen a few for sale here over the years with those too... Never seen one for sale here with P19LUG.
