Just got the following email from a customer:
A few days after my last email, my house was broken into and the well motivated thief took my CRT projector among other things.
Seriously? WTF?

Are you f'n kidding me? What model?
You'd need two people just to move any of the typical 8 or 9" machines let alone get it down from the ceiling if mounted. I doubt this was random; thief probably knew it was there and planned accordingly.

I was watching the news just before Christmas, and there were several home breakins and thefts in a local suburban neighborhood. In one of them, thieves removed many large items including the TV and some antique furniture, but what really blew my mind was that they stole the guy's stainless refrigerator - with all the food still in it. Stole a car from the garage, too. The police said the thieves would have needed to be there for at least 30 minutes, which sounds plausible to me. The owner was apparently out of town for the weekend. Effing thieves.

I have carried all my projectors by myself. no nines though.
in Estonia they have stolen 3000 pound fireplaces through a small window. of course they take it apart 1st but still...the stones weight a lot, but thieves take anything and everything they can, imagine if they worked a real job, what they would achieve..
a friend had his cottage stolen, just the cement on the ground when he went there..

Could it be an insurance scam ? Sorry but that seems like the more likely scenario. A group of thieves organized enough to remove large and heavy items would more than likely know the price they would fetch from a fence, that is assuming a fence would take the item.

He might have thought it was a three eyed witness so he couldn't leave it behind.

I can lift my dwin by myself forget about moving my marquee it would take at least two people to move it
I did have someone try stealing my car at one point crazy nut used a slim Jim and then left the door open
Luckily nothing was stolen but they left my drivers door open(luckily I had my battery disconnected that and my fuel guage showed empty(guages doesn't show unless key is on)
What got me was I had just put brand new audio equipment in the car when this happened

Nahh. I hauled my 8500 up & down stairs a few times, by myself. The trick is to rig up a strap on it so you can hang onto the damn thing.
