Gang -
I am flying down to Fort Myers, FL late today (Sunday) and driving a big Buick from Naples, FL to Pittsburgh (1100 miles) starting Monday around lunchtime. I'm driving straight through as I need to be in Pittsburgh at 10:30AM Tuesday.
I am stopping in Tampa area and picking up what I can of CJs stash that my friend has been sitting on. He's been too busy to throw stuff out OR to send promised things to folks, so I'm going to take all I can readily fit.
If you are not more than ~1hour out of my way, I'm willing to stop, drop off stuff, and roll! I plan on taking 75N and 95N toward Savannah, 26N to Columbia, 77N to Beckley, and US19/I79N to Pgh. Buzz my cell 412.736.0969 if you think we can meetup and there is stuff you want (that isn't spoken for).
Bummed I haven't been able to hang out here these past few months...hopefully more in the spring. Has been a busy, sad, and reflective, fall.
bests,
Matt

You're trusting a big Buick to go 1100 miles? Guess you plan on being home in the spring sometime?

Hey man, I'll be doing 80mph in a rolling lazyboy....ahhh, comfort! This one is a 1999 park avenue with 45,000 miles. And in another 7 years I'll be on the lookout for a 2005 Park Avenue Ultra with 50,000 miles on it. Any odds that my ECP (by then on the last set of 07MS tubes on earth) will still be running strong?!
Maybe Ron can weigh in, but I think those 3800 V6 engines - if taken care off - are solid. Like most any engine, they have their quirks (lower intake manifolds, bad EGR stovepipes running through plastic, etc), but they are solid. The 2-valve/cyl, pushrod, 90deg engines is something I can easily understand and work on. An old school straight six would also be fun, to me. Yep, she's going to eat up those 1154 miles, baby!

Be careful Matt. That's a long stretch to drive alone.

Matt I fully agree withy you my grandma has a 91 Buick century and that engine is built like a tank
Only thing that had to be replaced was the ECM and alternator(chain reaction)
If you want comfort climb in a older caddie they just float down the road(heck I don't even feel half the imperfections in the road I live on)
One plus to American car brands is on most of them you can actually work on them with little trouble unlike foreign brands(no offense curt but its true)

The best thing about American cars are the parts are cheap and plentiful. I had 250k miles on my '96 Astro when I totaled it. The Safari has 165k.
I have no idea why you would take 75. Take I-4 through Orlando and then hit 95 at Daytona.

So true there spanky I had to take my grandma's Toyota truck in for service 400 just for plugs and wires(I guess they think they were made of gold sheesh) I still think it needs new injectors but my grandma doesn't want to drop 1 grand in just four injectors
My caddi is a lot cheaper and its a luxury vehicle(and a lot more dependable to boot)only major issue I had with it was a PCM failure(thank god I was in a Walmart parking lot and not on the interstate) 400 bucks out the door after a week in the shop(that was fun)
I even priced injectors for mine and they are still cheaper then a Toyota
Spanky my uncle had a gmc full size van(I think it was a 80's model with 240k on the clock when he stopped driving it)
Next time I talk to him I will verify the mileage(it may be more)
Only reason he stopped driving was the catylic convertors went bad(he never got to get them replaced)
I also agree on the route

That they seem to be, used them from 88 through to late 90s here. Takes a fair bit to make it terminal.

Running out of coolant seems to be the biggest killer here.
Got nothin on a Citroen DS-21 anyway

I can decently vouch for that (been there not fun)
FYI case I looked up that car and I have seen some like it here in the states the suspension is a awesome setup but I wonder if it is a problematic system or not as the only person I talked to that had said he had to work on it before he could drive the car (not sure what was wrong)

Yeah mate the maintenance on them isn't exactly cheap apparently. Not real common outside of France, but they were WAY ahead of their time.
Crabb and Analog don't like them much though

Not sure in Canada but here in the states the headlight design got banned due to law
Me I still prefer a v8 like what's in a corvette and the float of a Cadillac

I made it home. I stopped from 3:45am-4:45in BFN, GA for a little nap, but other than that listened to the audiobook of 1493 most of the trip. This weekend I'll ship out the stuff my buddy had packed-up and not shipped, will pack and ship stuffhe was supposed to, and will take new pics of all that is left and re-post.
My wife was thrilled (OK, pleased enough) I arrived safely and offered up a big hug and nice kiss. When I came back into the house with the (7) lenses from 9" machines she was -- uhm.... -- less than happy!!! I promised they would all be shipped within 10days OR in the trash.
