So I sold an NEC XG 110 locally to a customer that bought an NEC PG Xtra 9 RUnco 933) new. After 4300 hours of good use, it developed an intermittent brightness fluctuation. I suggested the XG upgrade as it would only mean one trip to his house to swap sets. (famous last words!)

So the client helps me take down the Xtra, it's a bit different getting the XG up, as it's heavier, and the customer has a bad back. He gets his son down to assist, and I'm on the one side, his 20 year old is on the other side. I get my side of the projector into the bracket, and I ask if his side is locked in. He wasn't sure, and let go of the projector to check. Well, that was a mistake. the projector isn't on the bracket, and the bolt on my NEC bracket was off, so the projector slid off my stud on the bracket, and I catch the projector as it heads towards the ground. Not quite sure how I did it, but I had one hand on the handle on my side, and the other bear hugged the projector, and both it and myself landed on his couch unscathed.

Luckily it was a relatively low ceiling, and I was standing on a chair.

The weird thing was, I powered the set back up, no cracked tubes, but the blue neck board had died either in transit or due to the fall (not sure why), and I had to run way to the other side of town to get another neck board to get him running.

In the end he noticed a significant difference in the quality of the image, and I left with a check. Smile

Well his RUNCO probably wasnt set up by you, which would go most of the way to that significant difference Wink

And why didnt you have a ladder there? Chairs are for sitting on!!

Nice catch Curt!

When I went to buy the Sony 1040's the guy had it ceiling mounted. He said we have to be careful, it's heavy when we take it down. He released it and I grabbed it thinking it was still hooked on the bracket. LOL That's when I realized they only weigh 66lbs. I carried it in my hands and stuck it in the back seat. You however had a heavier load! Good catch!

Actually I did, well, at least I tweaked it, and this was the first time I was back to his place. I put the Fury in the last time apparently. it was funny, I didn't recognize the customer, but as soon as I saw the back of the rack, I remembered him. GEEK ALERT! Mr. Green

He had lent his ladder out, mine was a bit dirty, and it was a low ceiling..

Curt this is a good reason I haven't ceiling mounted my marquee as I am not taking the chance of it possiblely falling

Not sure if I will change that with the dwin I am getting or not but still that is a awesome catch with a heavy beast

I know my 10pg takes at least four people to lift it up for the ceiling mount (200+ pounds is not something you don't want to land on you)

That's a double negative. A double negative means a positive, you DO want it to happen. SO your sentence means you DO want it to land on you. Very Happy

Congrats Curt, good catch and good story. I'l love to see the video on youtube.

I never had mor than 1.5 men to lift the 10PG, one of 1.5 being me. Actually, I do it on my very own now since it is hung on three cheapo hoists. Only my wife must never know, more afraid of her than of my lovely NEC.
