hi.
i got the chip now:), but i have problems to figure out the correct wiring. the pictures are not concrete enough for me am affraid. can you show it to me in more details, assuming that i got a playstation 1 bnc video out and the chip. whats between, do i need a scart cable, where do i pin the wires on the chip, what about electricity .. very confused!!
please help

The easiest thing is to buy the NEC video card off me. Converting composite video to 5 BNC is a lot more complex than the above circuit.

Curt, the playstation has an RGB output, the only problem is the sync is tied in the signal in a way how the NEC don't recognizes, so that's why the above circuit: to peel the sync. for the existing RGB signals.

What is wrong with you people????
Why the F*** are you even interested in composite video AT ALL!!!
I thought it was really quite clear what to do, the playstation puts out RGB ( they ALL do, every single playstation ever made has factory RGB out ), the PG takes in RGB... How hard is it? Forget about f***en composite video...
Buy a playstation SCART cable, follow the pictures posted, connect RGB up to R, G and B, make the sync cleaner, connect the output of that to the H/V sync on the PG.

Ahhhhh much better. Do you know if the PS3 also has RGB out?
I'll see if I can mash one of these together. In the mean time I have 2, Extron Quad decoders here. I'm going to fire up the PS2 tomorrow. Gift wrapping tonight.

Look, very simple. The OP can't follow the schematic above, so he says. I therefore offered a simpler solution, although yes, with less of a picture quality. A quad decoder board, NTSC and PAL compatible plugs right into the projector. 5 minutes and he's DONE!

The schematic above is WRONG. I posted the right one twice. He can even BUY one off ebay already made.
Why not spend $10-$20 and do it RIGHT.
No way in the world is it going to be easier for him to open his projector up and install that board than it will be to buy the right cable and plug in 4 BNC connectors to get a 50 times better picture.

Oh im calm as a coma Jeremy, i just dont understand how it can be so difficult to plug in 4 BNC connectors as apposed to pull half the projector apart, fit an extra board, just so you can plug in one cable and enjoy a lousy composite picture...
If i wasnt so busy with work id made him the bloody cable
No idea what is on the back of PS3, i dont have one, PS2 is newest i have but i dont like the games on it.

sorry but your pictures dont show me sh*t (to stay in da language) i have an 1002 playstation (whitch is by the way a high end cd player for all who care!), so i was thinking about the additional bnc out at first. but yes, it also has a multi av out which is probably the rgb out. your shematics doesnt show what to do...or am i blind? they refer on multi av(rgb) to scart as i read them..!?

To me the posted schematic seems OK, maybe the 'vertical sync' output can be disconnected as the composite sync already carries both sync, but try it both way and will turn out if it is working, nothing will blow up...

sorry i mess up rca with bnc.. of course my ps1 only has a rca video out, not a bnc as i wrote before!!
would love to play ps during holydays. am not good with shematics but i hope we get i done till... btw. what else will i need. some resistors, power?

RCA and BNC are connector types, not video standards. It makes no difference.
The pic i showed is to be used with the one Gàbor showed, get on ebay spend $6 on a SCART cable, then follow what we posted on the previos pages. Red blue and green go directly to the front of the projector from the SCART socket, composite video is used as sync with a Playstation, it goes through that extremely simple circuit i posted up before.
The difference between RGB and composite video is WORLDS APART. Even more so on a large screen.
Regardless of which model Playstation you have, they ALL have RGB out. I know some people think the 1000/1001/1002 models were special, but when it comes to gaming, they aint. Records still sound better.

You should be able to buy the device allready made up the clean the sync for you. If you dont feel you can make it yourself, just buy one done.

Just looking up a SCART cable for NTSC consoles. Apparently the NTSC versions won't output RGB just S-video and the PAL versions output RGB over SCART but not S-video. Ahhh well I'm off to play some Time Crysis via the Extron Quad Decoder.

Not in my experience, i had an NTSC console here that did, worked with the exact same cable. They dont vary in that respect region to region, only in terms of what XTAL is installed and what jumper is set to the CXA1645. They all do s-video as well.
Only the N64 has the RGB gone altogether from the NTSC version, even the PAL console needs a mod to get it if you dont have the french one.
