Curt, focus lead was not able to move when I open the cover, was zip tied in place. I put 8 layers of heat shrink on it, but the issue remains, and it isn't this lead cause I left it hang out while I ran the set, and ran the back of my hand along it to see if it was capable of arcing, but nothing.

I'd still suspect HV issues, either the quad or splitter.

Insulation on Quads breaks down internally. If you every remove it from the projector you will see one side different from the others and that material you would be looking at breaks down causing the hissing noise. If its not there or at the splitter and you seem to say the splitter is OK you could get some leakage at the tubes where the HT cable is attached but the noise would be coming from that area of the projector. Try another Quad if you have it.

Case I know this may seem strange but I had a projection tv do about like this within a month the flyback went dead and was arcing internally even before it failed
Just a thought it may be in the hv power supply or a tube lead
Also now you know how I felt when my Ecp was doing this very same thing(except it would arc at random times with no warning) also I noticed the picture on the red tube would twitch and slightly lose focus I replaced the high voltage power supply it helped some but not a lot(never got the issue nailed down before the lvps bit the big one)
All you would hear was a LOUD SNAP and the alignment grid would pop up(not good when you a few feet from the beast)

E its none of those things. Leads are all perfect. No arcing or even any sound comes from that section of the machine. It is all sectioned off.
I havent got a spare quad at this point. Not the leads, no arcing that end.
If there a way to insulate the quad? Has anyone tried it?

I am sure there is a thread or two about this with a minor success. Its very difficult to do.

try taking the quad off the side of the chassis. Float it in mid air, or as best you can. That might reduce/eliminate it.

Curt ... I think that's impossible.
The quad have a multipolar wire very short that's connected to the main board.

As long as he can get the metal plate away from the chassis, that will isolate that ground plate, and can stop some internal arcing.. sometimes. Some quads fail that way, and at least he can see if the issue is quad related. I've had both quads and splitters (and sometimes EHT boards) cause noise in the image.

I had a 2" purple arc on my Ampro 4000! Very cool!

Hi Case, this is one of the most common problems of the 909 919 etc.
The quad you have comes from a 1209s or 808, it will work with cine 9 without problems. Friend of mine has it also in his Cine9.
But I bet this one wasn't new when replaced the original, so it's not a suprise if this one is failing now.
With my 4 x 919 I got also 5 defective quads and fortunate some spares as well.
Sometimes they start arcing internally, after a while it will also go outside and you can smell it too when that happens.
One of the defective quads arced so bad that it went black at all sides.
There's a guy which tried to repair quads but I don't think he suceeded. Rubber plate won't help you, the arcing and sound comes from within the quad and will come out soon or later or it will fail before completely. I would suggest you to buy a new one. Personally I think this is the problem. Splitters hardly fail and if they do you would have other issues.
Good luck!

The quad is the "cheapest" part of the Cine9.

Im on it, should have some spares soon. It gets limited use lately anyway as the XG is set up in my bedroom and now has its own HTPC as well. Ive get some screen material samples coming to test out, once everything is set i will throw a new set of tubes in the spare housings and get everything ready for a full brand new setup.
Im likely increasing the screen width to around 2.7m and changing to a 16:9 screen instead of the 5:4 aspect that worked so well with the XG.
