I don't even buy my car replacement parts here I buy from the US and even with currency exchange costs and postage the same parts are way cheaper. As an example Bilstein B6 shocks for two here AU$660 from the US same part US$340 for two. I have to check if postage was included but even if it isn't it will still be way less that the local quoted price.

What car Keith?

I used to always buy everything from MAXX Wrench in Burlington Colorado, was getting most items at extremely low prices.

Very low Kms but 5 years old. Not sure if that's indicative of corvette prices here but if it is there would be any number of European sports cars that could be had for less.

This vette reads like a mighty beast.

Do any of you think that is real good price? F*** ME you could buy a Ferrari 512 TR for that!! Is a 512TR a better car? Bet your f***en arse it is, in EVERY sense of the word. You could have a real nice high end Porsche 911 for that, is it a better car? Yep. Miles better.

I will also add i daily drove my Corvettes here for 11 years putting on around 300,000 miles, i worked on others, i tuned them, i stripped them down to bare nothing and put them back together, i read Genuine GM service manuals from cover to cover, i knew every single RPO and what came with it, i spent countless hours on Corvette Forum almost every day helping others with their Corvettes, i lived and breathed them for 11 years. Not to be too arrogant, id bet my left testical im more qualified to comment on them than anyone in this thread ever will be!! Laughing

Just as well you have two testicals Laughing

Im quietly confident mate Wink Laughing

I used to really like the Lincoln LS built on that same platform, but it's looking pretty dated now, while the S-Type (which I didn't care for so much at the time) is looking better to me. It's funny how looks and tastes both change.

EDIT -

Damn, that's a really nice looking car!

Yeah it does grow on you as time passes I do what I can to keep mine in top condition. I would say its the classic or retro lines that keep you interested which of course Jaguar and Ford were so criticized for.

Now this is ALMOST a decent deal.... When you compare it to all the others, it is certainly appropriately priced....

That Falcon there was one hell of a beast mate, factory special order GS pack with the 351 and toploader, not many in Mulberry.... The old man was kicking himself for selling that in the 80s when it wasn't worth a damn... Wouldve been easily $50,000 plus now...

When I see things like this:

http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=SSE-AD-1124424&Cr=124

It makes me wonder why I see the others so expensive. I know that car and the owner, and it IS worth that amount of money, cause it is basically still like new. Everything was replaced on it, last I saw it apart from the chrome it even looked brand new.

And a Z, id pay $50,000ish for a Z...
http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=SSE-AD-1048909&Cr=122

Ive driven this Z a number of times, I did a couple small jobs on it a few years ago.

Certainly not a fan of that model vette. The Falcon has way more character. The latest and earlier models are better for me.

Back in the day those had the best bang for buck here. I don't like the newer Falcons, anything after the XE ESP got abit boring...

Crabb, as you see here:

http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=SSE-AD-797145&Cr=11

That will be close enough to the performance of a C5 and half the price.

This one here:

http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=SSE-AD-843293&Cr=25
Is still cheaper than a C5 and easily up there...

And the name sounds meaner Laughing

Hmmm... I'm not a big fan of the older Maseratis. Pretty nice cars, but God help you if something major breaks on it. There's a reason the price is relatively affordable at this point.

Funny you mentioned the Falcon... I didn't know anything about that car until I saw Love the Beast last year. That movie should be mandatory viewing for every gear-head (or as they say across the pond, petrol-head). What a great film. Wish it was available on Blu-ray. They must have mastered it in SD, as I haven't seen it in HD anywhere at all.

Here, Case... This is for you... Hopefully you haven't seen it.

Cheers mate, was not bad Smile

Ive never seen the movie, although i have seen some parts of Eric Bana talking with Clarkson about the XB or XC Falcon he had. Clarkson was into him about the fact it had rear leaf springs.

I wouldnt mind a Citroen DS...
