EXT-Moome output to Lumagen HDQ - Would this be stupid?

I have a Runco DTV-1100, which exhibits some raster foldover when displaying 1080p/60. In order to fix this, I have to use custom timings in my Lumagen HDQ. So, I've been sending HDMI signals to the HDQ, and outputting them with custom timings through my Moome box. So far, so good.

However, I have found that the max pixel clock for the DVI output of the HDQ is 156 MHz, which is fine for standard 1080p/60 timings, but when I increase the total horizontal pixel count to 2400, which is necessary to eliminate the wraparound, this pixel clock is not high enough, and my vertical scanrate drops below 59.94 Hz.

Fortunately, the analog outputs are capable of higher scan rates, but I can't output HDCP-encrypted video over the HDQ's analog outs. I have the $25 stripper mentioned in another thread, but am experiencing digital noise when using it before the HDQ.

So, I got the idea of placing my External Moome box between the receiver and the HDQ. I cringe thinking about this, because I now will be converting Digital to Analog in the Moome, back to digital for processing, then back to analog again for output to the projector, but I think it would solve my issues. Anyone see any issues with this, or are the A<->D stages in the HDQ of a high enough quality that it won't really matter?

I don't really want to buy a Moome Mux just to bypass HDCP.

Actually the external moome converts to RGBHV. So that is the best way and you'll be able to output RGBHV to the Barco/Runco.

So it be digital to analog the rest of the way.

And you can then use the independent output mode to have 4 memories for the single RGBHV input from the moome.

I realize that's what the Moome is outputting, before I had

HDMI Source -H-D-M-I-> HDQ -H-D-M-I-> Moome -R-G-B-H-V-> Projector

But this way I'd have

HDMI Source -H-D-M-I-> Moome -R-G-B-H-V-> HDQ -R-G-B-H-V-> Projector

Basically I'm worried about having extra A/D and D/A steps, and having two Analog stages instead of one, where before I was keeping it all digital until the end.

The analog in the HDQ is quite good it is the DVI out that is iffy. So I think before te HDQ is a good idea but your eyes will be the judge of that. Try it both ways and see.

I agree with Athanasios.. Try it and see how looks. Its a free ride.. Wink

ill hopefully soon get a working HDQ, so ill try and see if i get the same problems with the cheep HDMI splitter, and HDQ.

Well, now I'm having an entirely different issue with the HDQ.

In order to void fold over on the right side of the image, as well as wavy lines (ringing?) on the left side, I need a total horizontal pixel count of 2449. Whenever I set this in the timings, my v rate is decreased. I finally realized I can get around this by manually setting the pixel clock (menu 0933), and I got a perfect picture, at a V rate of 59.94 Hz.

So I got that resolution all converged, saved the settings on the Lumagen, and switched output modes on the Lumagen. When I switched back to my custom mode, the V rate was at 55 Hz!

All of the timing parameters, including Pixel Clock, were listed where I set them. The V rate was even reported by the lumagen as 59.94 Hz, but my projector reported 54 Hz. I had to set the pixel clock manually lower, then back up to my custom value, to get things back the way they were. The settings are obviously being stored, since they display on the Lumagen as the values I set them, but the Pixel Clock value doesn't seem to be set.
