|
|
Seems i have quite a lot of blooming on my green tube.
The tube is a 180dvb22 which i pulled from a working 808 (800 hours, no wear). The projector a 1208s/e.
Starting from 40 contrast it blooms, getting worse till 100
What have i tried
- Swapped modded RGB boards to my the original boards
- Different quad, the original one made some noise when projecting white, fixed that but no the blooming issue
- Different EHT
- G2 using the led method
- G2 using the black screen method
- Swapped neckboards from red (which does not bloom)
- Replaced the H-shift/focus board
- Removed the convergence tray
- Tried adjusting astig but this was nearly impossible.
Nothing seems to help except using a lot of focus, it's quite unsharp when doing the mechanical focus (moving the coil). Afterwards i need around 77/100 to get it ok looking but it was a lot better in my 808. I assumed it was astig but that does not change the situation.
Anyone know what's going on here?

Have you tried to swap the focus yoke to the one what was originally in the 1208?

Then try the original 808 yokes... are the connectors pin compatible?

Swapped the Splitter as last part of the process. No change.
Maybe I'm overreacting, at 70 contrast i need 77 centerfocus to get good focus, maybe this is normal with the 1208s/e chassis. On my 808 i only needed 63.
When raising contrast is it normal to need more focus? Or should this stay uniform?

Center focus should be pretty near null id have thought!! Are you sure you havent set anything out of spec prior to adjusting focus?
Did you under-take the tip suggested by Gábor above?
Raising the contrast will generally result in reduced focus, but when you set the focus it should remain static, it should not need to be set differently for higher or lower contrast settings. Not by much anyway.
