I've watched The Hobbit (unexpected journey) great movie to watch on a fight projector Seos 919 like mine
Great scenes for CRT as well, i'm very happy with the punch and sharpness this pj is giving me so far. My screen is 110"
@Diddern, I think the modifications for this 808 brought this projector to another level. A huge improvement but still not comparable with an LC colored 9" projector. I think to get the best in CRT you'll need the Cine9 modded or a modded Marquee 9500 ultra with LUG's and HFQ900's. But still I think this owner can be quit happy with his highly improved Barco 808, and he can watch many many hours with spares for dirt cheap as Curt always says.

You might be right about a 9" to say the opposite will be strange, and a 9" with the same mods will be better.
But when two 909 owners say that it's better than a org. 9" of coerce you wonder.
But you can believe much but can't tell 100% before you see them side by side.
But in theory I agree with you. But your CRT is already better like I see it. But haven't seen it hehe.
But the picture is to good to be a 808 S graphic hehe.
I will do the same whit a 9" together with owner next year. We will get some answers then.
Also together with a good digital a Hw55 from sony or a X500 from JVC.

Is it posible to see the screenshots with no sharpness addet.?
Its quite anoying to see all that edge ringing and over sharp screenshots.
And there is no pictures of the Standard and the moddet BARCO, so anyone knowing about barco can comment on the boards/ tubes / lenses.
If a comparison should value anything we need to se a machine with standard parts matching the setup of the moddet machine, same lenses, LC if its LC, and so on, and important to run the same source and DA converter on both projectors.
What we have seen untill now can posible be related to source and setup. Sure the 2 bandwidth pics look very identical. Both have same wierd behaviour, and very low bandwith and lots of peaking. Ill say it looks like the same machine, 2 different camera and angels.
Merry Christmas everyone.!!

Ill say it matters not what is said til the specs are confirmed, one minute its HD145 lenses, then its LC, then its HD144 and LC, well it cant be all of them, and it cant be HD144/145 and LC at all.
So til someone comes along that knows what it actually REALLY is, its all just smoke and mirrors with abit of hear-say thrown in.

It cant both both, and HD144/145 lenses are air coupled.

Air Coupled or AC lenses still use Liquid Cooled tubes.

You are almost right.
Its a original 808 with hdmi mod. before all the mod cards and the new tubes are installed.
And different camera correct, I was not there, but you cant see the lines just like it was shown.
And its a AC cant be anything else.
and it is 144 lenses colored. He used the 145 lenses and switched.
And there is no problem to get the test pattern in 1080P to look like yours, but the sharpness get more poor in the vertical part.
And I think to really see how good bandwidth this 808 have you need to see it.
But from pictures I agree with you.

That'd be a poor 3rd place to colour filtered HD144/145 lenses!!

Yep I agree, also think colored glycol in AC chamber with clear HD145's Still will have a lot of haloing with the AC. Maybe they put black bars on the surface in 16:9 to minimize reflections. I had a side by side comparison with AC 808 and LC 808 and the difference was HUGE! Putting up a black screen with only a small white window and you could clearly see how that affected the black surrounding it. Contrast ratio is far better on LC machines.

Its plain to see the difference on the intro to a James Bond movie with the white circles moving across the screen, the AC lenses halo terribly there.

The Haloing was not a big problem, only some sense in black out of many, but not near what I've seen before on a CRT.

Hi
I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday.
I am designing new mods for 2014 and will be available Jan 2014 with all the changes from the testing. This will most likely be one of the last revisions as there are so many changes its too time consuming to do them all for the same price.
This made an 808 look good in fact customers and BARCO installers are saying a modified 808 will now perform better than a stock 909. The mods on a 909 or 1209 will be a factor of 2 times as good because of the better neck cards, tube size and optics.
New op-amps
New filters RF and Power
New high frequency bypass caps to improve game
Power filters on all op-amps
New cables
New HDMI card and firmware

Nice to see you back.
Can you post some resolution patterns, confirming the bandwidth performance of your mods.?
It would be nice if you post some, and can explain the difference.
The HD Basic SMPTE pattern with 1920x 1080P 60 and 72hz will be perfect.
