Hi

I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday.

I am designing new mods for 2014 and will be available Jan 2014 with all the changes from the testing. This will most likely be one of the last revisions as there are so many changes its too time consuming to do them all for the same price.

This made an 808 look good in fact customers and BARCO installers are saying a modified 808 will now perform better than a stock 909. The mods on a 909 or 1209 will be a factor of 2 times as good because of the better neck cards, tube size and optics.

New op-amps
New filters RF and Power
New high frequency bypass caps to improve game
Power filters on all op-amps
New cables
New HDMI card and firmware

I have some problems to explain the mods on this 808.
One thing I know is that it's much better than the original 808 machine.
And the new tubes have much more light and sharpness.

And is this a ac or a lc barco that Paul have.?

The testing is done and over for good with the moded 808s, after disappointment after disappointment and the owner got a JVC after some final testing. He now will get a 909 reality for nearly no money and he wants to do this again and this is what he wants. The 909 reality will also be moded with special gun handmade tubes, and all the parts and mod cards that is needed in near future. This is just to get the fact that I already know on the table, and even for me it will be cool to just have a 909 in the sealing it be cool just to have the old king. Even if its not better than anything. But its not over until the fat lady sings, maybe I say something else Smile

Forgot to say this, one thing is 100% clear. Its not worth the money to mod a 808 period. A total waist of money.
Then I will recommend to buy something better like a org. 9 inch.

Or a moddet 808 VS 909.?

And where is Greg in all this.?

Talk it up all ya like, its not all its made out to be.

If someone mods an XG to take the P19LUG tubes, itll blow the doors off the Barco. With ease too.

What are you saying here Gábor? We should be looking to mount P19s in a 9PG XTRA instead?

If you don't plan to use with too high scanrates then yes. You know the 10PG chassis is quite comfty for PG boards and 9" tubes Smile

Never seen a 10PG down here, but making the tubes fit is the least of my worries, id make a frame up out of a few bits of unistrut to hold the tube housings.

Picture named Barco is form last time and Barco NY is the newest.

This is the same test like before, but now the improvements.
All pictures are downscaled so noise can appear that is not there.
Also remember, that pictures look not so fresh like they do in real, this because of camera adjustments.
But just to see improvements and differences.

Hi Diddern,

At first you were enthusiastic about the Eisemann mods for 808 and improvements….. could you please tell us what happened? What caused the disappointments after all?

He relised it was still only an 8" AC Barco, and thats all itll ever be. Itll never be a 9" LC, hence, itll not compare in contrast ratio or brightness.

Hello and happy weekend.
The 808 is now switched to a 909 reality that why haven't been active.
And for me that test I had plans to do was pointless for what I am used to see in picture quality. It's so far form
My minimum standard.
Side by side with the orginal 808 was some difference, but not as much as hoped.
The modded had more light and some sharper. But enough of that.
When the 909 is upp and running the owner will test side by side with a jvc rs20 I will be there if I can.
Maybe some pictures will be taken, but picture give you just a indication and far from what you see in real.
But to be honest I think you get more for the buck by going digital. But stil you can get a brilliant picture with a CRT.

My friend have now changed his modded 808 to a 909 reality.
So far some errors on the main board, but gonna be fixed or replaced with a new. Greg is going to give parts to this.
When everything is ready he will do a side by side test with 2 CRT enthusiasts and me present. Then with his jvc rs20
I have seen so many crts and know one that have sold over 1000 units from 808 to cine 9 and marquee 8 and 9 inc here in Norway. And I know what a CRT can preform. And he does to. And very important to correct adjustments and calibration.
The one that I talked about started CRT here in Norway his last cine 9 was changed with a jvc x3 because he liked that better. And that x3 is far far far form today's new JVCs and sonys. So if you want to know how this 909 hangs in the game, you will know. Maybe in a new post. Very Happy
