|
|
Hi again..
I've just bought myself a 32 inch Luxor LED for my driving rig. The TV performs very well as a monitor for game systems, but I have a slight problem with a very subtle but pinkish nuance. I tried adjusting the "face.. hue" and the RGB gains in the user menu, but I cannot influence it at all from there. I'm afraid I will need to go deeper into the service menu to set some parameter there.
Any one knows how to enter the factory service menu on this telly, please?

I mean, I can influence the RGB gains, but as you know that's only the white balance. And there is a "Red-Green" balance slider as well, but that's only the overall red to green total temp/balance.
When I put on a test-picture with RGB/Grey scales I see that they are all well balanced. So the pink is something that the TV seems to do 'intelligently'. I need to get rid of it, or return the TV.

If it's a new set, return it. I have seen the odd set give really bad flesh tones and color balance with one input, and not the others. you won't be able to adjust it.

Thanks Curt. I think I will.
It's quite a bad habbit the manufacturers have gotten used to, I cannot imagine that the pink tone impresses anybody. It's not, as they say; "natural" at all.

Just out of curiosity, why did you buy a cheapie no name brand unit? Get a name brand for a bit more money, and stuff like this is less likely to happen.

Well, I wasn't trying to be cheap or anything, just smart. I need something smaller than my current 51'' plasma. And as I bought the same Luxor for my mother inlaw last month and noticed that it has a native 1360x768 display and a VGA-input, I though it would be perfect for both my Lindbergh system and Konami's Toshiba made "FAB-e965" game PC.
I don't much care for the new 1920x1080 HD screen, if I use a 1360x768 I get a 1:1 pixelperfect image with the hi-res games.
I never thought the VGA-input would suffer from any of the TV picture-enhancements.

My rig at the moment
And this is 32 inch. Imagine my old 51 incher. Takes up almost half the room's width.

.. and this is my 51 '' samsung.
Even though the size is not too big in proportion to the structure, it does take up too much width. I'd like to fit at least one other similar setup nex to it. I need maximum 32'' screens.
.. or, I'd really need a barn for it all.

The Samsung 51'' I actually bought out of certain cheapness as it was an outgoing model and I quickly needed a screen besides my PC monitor to test my game systems om. Only 1366x768 screen compared to the "true HD" screens, but perfect for the old system. I paid around $600, and could barely fit it in my Volvo. I like my plasma alot due to its gerat colors, contrast, blackness. It's almost like a CRT compared to most LCDs.

Let me guess, you're 14 and don't yet have a driver's license.
Cool setup!

Hahah.. nah, actually I'm over 40. But yes, I was kind of late with my license. But I love driving, any vehicle/type of car, and everyewhere. In the few years I've had my license I and my Camilla have covered a lot of road. Italy, Tuscany, Rome and Florence ... Last year we did the US west coast from Portland to Los Angeles, via Hilmar and some obscure country detours, one of which was Vegas. This summer we travelled most of Europe, from Berlin via the eastern states, up to Paris and flew home. And most of our home land Sweden, also bits of Norway (Norway is really fantastic). Everywhere except northern Sweden, I think. For some reason you never look around the places that are closest to you, even if they may be very beautiful.
This fall we'll probably tour the southern Alpes in France, along the mediterranean sea, Monaco, Marseille. That shuold be exciting. I dread the day I'll end up in England, or any place where they drive on the opposite side of the road. Imagine shifting gear with your left hand!?
