Posted to the other post before I saw this one. Those really are pretty typical for NEC XG sets, and within the wear area, you'll still get a decent picture believe it or not. I've had many customers using far worse than that. Almost guaranteed that's the condition any NEC XG will be in that was used regularly. nothing new here I'm afraid.

You will probably be surprised how decent an image it can still throw once you do a rough grayscale on it.

There is nothing wrong with it, just use it. Mine were worse than that when i got my DTV991, i only swapped them out for better ones cause it was 16:9 wear and i used a 5:4 screen for retro gaming.

Ive got a better green than that here that came from another set but itll cost you alot more than the set did.

Just be sure to keep your image inside the existing wear patterns.

HD-144 lenses with that raster size and 2.5m or so center to screen should get you around 100" 4:3, probably 1.8-2m wide.

And I thought my old tubes had wear. I still have my old tube set, nowhere near that bad. I only replaced mine because the green tube cracked so I bought a whole set that made its way on here from another XG'er. I guess I should consider myself very lucky to have the tubes I do in the XG, I could rate them all at a solid 7 out of 10, only a slight hint of wear when looking at the tube faces.

But as others say, you'll still get a nice sharp and pretty damn colorful image out of those tubes yet, just not AS colorful. Nice score!! Smile

Personally i would not use those tubes too toasty.

Any chance to get newer or minty ones ?
