Could be a neck board but the g2 may be too high

It could be a neck board, socket board, or the PE board. However, it's most likely a short inside the tube or some contamination in the tube.

The first thing to try is to tap the neck of the tube with something non-conductive like the back of a screw driver. If there is contamination this make break it free and you'll be all right.

The next thing to try if you want is to just leave it alone. If the problem is contamination it may burn its self out after some time.

That being said, on the P19LQF or P19LUG tube, the problem is most likely a short inside the tube. Does the problem always occur or does it sometimes go away? When the tube is cold (first turned on) is the problem there or does it take some time to start? If it takes some time or is intermittent than it's probably a thermal short. As the tube heats up the metal traces inside the tube deflect a little and sometimes they wind up touching each other.

If you want, you can pull your red tube and ship it to me to inspect on my CR7000 tube tester. The CR7000 can tell us if there is a problem with the tube. It can also repair some kinds of shorts or stuck contamination. If there is a short on the heater, this is not repairable.

I also have a nearly new P19LUG red tube already in G90 hardware that I could sell you.

That is a thermal short.

I can test for what is shorted on the CR7000, but if it is the heater than there is nothing that can be done to the tube to save it.

Hi,

In this case You could supply the heater voltage for this tube from an external power supply which should be completely isolated from anything inside the PJ. But this isn't a nice solution and maybe not worth the effort regarding prices for red tubes. As these are the least ones to show any wear, You even could get a used one for a reasonable price...

It would work, but most folks don't want to bother.
