Thanks
For a comparison with the VW1000 a high end CRT is needed. I don't think a 8 inch unit can compare.
1) Barco Cine9/909, Marquee 9500 LC Ultra, Sony G90 with the best lens available
2) new or nearly new tubes with colored c-elements
3) both projectors need to be calibrated to the same video chain
4) a light controlled room as the CRT needs darkness for its full potential

A vw1000 hehe oky test your selves. We talk about
First have a look at a pro home digital. 1080P projector.
I live this now, and come back when I have seen the new mod. and taken some new pictures and tests.
This is a joke to discuss in my opinion. You have to see this live before someone can say something else.
A VW1000 is a 4K native machine and is on another planet compared to CRT in my eyes. prove me otherwise!

Ill say you have to see a full blown 9" CRT to coment on what planet its on.. Did you ever seen a perfect setup moddet 9" CRT.?
If the CRT experience you have is with the one shown in the screen shots ill agree with you, but that Barco also look worse than most digitals out of the box.

Yes I have seen a 909 and a cine9 and calibrated by the best people many years ago.
Compared to a 4k projector side by side no. But I have seen a vw95 side by side with a 909 and same there.
Have you seen something side by side? And remember I think that CRT is great, and like to have one just for fun.
It's what you like in a picture people are different. But side by side you see what needed to be seen.
If you just look at a good 909 or other high end CRT you don't miss much. I look at 4k upscaled now the last almost 2 years, and yes I see differences quick. Get one and we can talk again in 1 year, I like to hear what you say then.
This is the same discussion that vinyl is better than cd and for some it is. Or that everything was better in the old days.

I guess your right, im one of those that thinks vinyl is better to, but it still depends what setup its played on.
So what your telling me is that 4K SONY projectors are perfect,? no calibration isues, or other funny stuff.?
Scaling arifacts ? motion judder?
Panels native color gamut dont need corection.?
Can it reproduce colors perfect without any advanced CMS corection, internal, or like the Radiance 125 point ?
No temperature drift.? color shift depending on room temperature.?
How long will it run before needing recalibration, and whats your tolerances.?
There is many isues with CRT, but not the same as on a Digital, so for me it just comes down to what looks most realistic, what i could be chetet to belive hapened right in front of me, same with music..
What are your demands to PQ.?

Its a long one, but if the right LP is there and the right setup is made.. yes
For normal people, no.. Just like CRT.. Only a few will ever make it look good, others just use it and think its good.. Look at the screenshots.. one messed up soul think he got the best projector in the world.. Its a CRT.. but that dont make it right..

There is always a hype when a new digital generation is released.
Better contrast, auto-iris, more light output.......

HOLD ONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought this was a 909. I really don't care how an 8" AC compares to a digital.

Nothing is perfect!!! yet.
I like calibrated projectors and all my projectors have been calibrated up to D65 Rec709.
Ansvers:
So what your telling me is that 4K SONY projectors are perfect,? no calibration isues, or other funny stuff.? """"NO!!!"""
Scaling arifacts ? motion judder? """"no problem if you don't use motion, but I like motion, and use low setting.
Panels native color gamut dont need corection.?=Yes you need to calibrate, and need a example lumagene for the cms
Can it reproduce colors perfect without any advanced CMS corection, internal, or like the Radiance 125 point ? Need lumagen and a pro calibrator everytime
No temperature drift.? color shift depending on room temperature.? Nothing that my eye can see but still only 500 hours on my projector.
How long will it run before needing recalibration, and whats your tolerances.? Don't know yet, but I calibrate again if I think its needed.
There is many isues with CRT, but not the same as on a Digital, so for me it just comes down to what looks most realistic, what i could be chetet to belive hapened right in front of me, same with music..
That's your opinion and I respect that. But if you really mean that I like to see it. Take some pictures and share.... Here..
