We know the CRT have very bad MTF. we got used to that. And we also wonder why a high bandwidth CRT shows so much more details in a complex image than a new Digital.

I have no problem admitting that MTF is very very bad on a CRT.. If what i say is BS, where did the details around the eyes of that muddy face shot go on your JVC with super high MTF.?

If its a camera thing, please take a new picture showing how much better it really looks.

But what do you think will happen. Do you really think that's a CRT will be better ? this is so far from reality.

What high bandwidth CRT projector have you seen.?

I never seen anyone else than Mike having luck getting higher bandwidth out of a CRT projector, and there is quite a lot of hes mods out there.. Is the one you compare to on this forum.?

The picture of the jvc are way more zoomed in. And see no use commenting on down sampled pictures and then zoomed in on.
Again this is meaningless unless picture taken with same camera and same screen. and every adjustments the same

Feel free to post as high resolution as you desire to show the details from the JVC.

Or you like me to zoom more on the details on the CRT picture.?

You guys still have the best camera, the best room, the best projector, we are just waiting for you to display it.

Confirm it represents what's on your screen according to whom and what? I also have to laugh at this whole "artificial sharpness" idea, like pixels are evil. Almost all movies are now shot on digital, and on the rare occasion they aren't, the rest of the entire post-production process, right up to and including the Blu-ray disc, is ALL DIGITAL. There are pixels in every single damn step of that process, yet somehow if a projector uses pixels, it's a horrible thing. <smh>

Guess what? If a digital guy want less sharpness and lower MTF, he can defocus the projector slightly. Even at 1080p, with typical viewing angles, nobody will see the pixels unless they strain to find them, and then only under certain circumstances. Even then, it's just the projector very faithfully reproducing the original signal, which is of course made up of pixels.

The CRT fanboy-ism here is just as pathetic as the digital fanboy-ism.

You know that the CRT has bad MTF, just to remind you again 30 and up to maybe 50 but can't understand why CRT shows MORE details in a complex image than a digital. Are you drunk? And even more clueless to say that is lack of digital processing and cms correction. WHAT planet are you living on? Who teaches you this mumbo-jumbo. Must be CRT for Dummies.

You are correct on one thing higher bandwidth Will resolve on higher MTF.
But very little.

Yeah ecrabb has for the longest been telling all about pictures, whats wrong, and how to make them right.. But he never post any shots.. so its hard to take the guy serious.

This game should leave all advances to the Digital, as the CRT have that bad bad MTF, and Mike uses a cheep camera in a room with some daylight.

There is 2 options here, and it would be nice to know whats the right one.

The digital sucks, or those guys cant make a decent screenshot.

And they hold the power to tell whats right, im just asking the question.

What image of that muddy face do you think looks the best.?

Insted of zooming in on already highly compressed images, take a closeup with the camera, then it is easier to see.

I think that magnify the "Girl dining shot" was a brilliant idea, and to have a closer look at it, because I never thought that a CRT could stack up that good against a JVC x500, let alone a digital, in fact I'm honoured it got to be that close. But I'll have another go at when the following things have been sorted:

1. Obtain a REMUX from The Great Gatsby, and remove the borders only as mine are only 12,5 GB in size, as the real size should be in the range of about 20GB. So there is promise that it could be a lot better with the finer details in the hair for instance.

2. Install the MP modded boards within 2 weeks.

3. Give the magnets another go as they are not properly set yet.

I realize of course, that I'm probably the only one thinking it got to be a close race between the CRT and the Digital, but it's close enough for me, and everything that gets improved upon from here on is an added bonus.

You need to focus on non reflective surfaced to get the best picture on screen. My cinema is only non reflective surfaces like Protostar material on the roof black molton on the walls and a black carpet on the floor. And you can see it in my signature, the main carpet looks light gray in the pictures, but it is actually dark gray in real life, I have also a black carpet in the front.
