There is also alot of strange things going on in your picture one of the problems is banding.

Yeah its amassing how well it holds up when you zoom that much right.?

Did you find out what was wrong with your pic? is it a camera issue or.?

Donīt play stupid. It is not a camera issue, this is taken with a good digital camera. It is only compression artifacts, just as the pixels and banding in the CRT pictures.

Great, if its not the camera, you will know what some dont like about digital.. Notice that your picture had higher resolution, as your active image filled the hole picture. It has smoother edges, but some funny square pixel groups, and as you see lower color resolution.

Ill say you might have some scaling/ processing in your video chain reducing your bit dept, and then some digital ringing to the gamma curve.

86Kb VS 28Kb image. taking up about the same space on screen.

Yeah, they don't love me anymore.. Mr. Green

Anyway, I have all day. The weather is once more bad, snow, Ice and what has been the norm these past two months, so I'm in and will be checking back to get my question answered later. I ran a spell check on it to make sure I'm spelling everything right, to include looked more carefully at the grammar part of it to make sure it'll communicate what I want. It's quite simple to me to understand, maybe Andreas has been busy and that explains why he's not seeing my post when he come to the thread.

Anyway, I did a few more myself. And before anyone ask what projector, it's a Marquee 9500 and Blu Ray combination

I saved the 4K image and made a comparison with his over mine in the same size, and now I see, side-by-side, how much it differs in terms of sharpness. Yeah, shocker, right? Smile

Well, maybe I can get a tad better result if I save mine in png next time, and I'll do that too, but to say that you can't tell much from images posted is not right, so I would like to see some JVC digitals now too from that particular Baraka shot. Maybe they are softer than the Sony 4K, but not much sharper than my pj?, well, if so, I would be very happy to see it because now I just don't know. It's just to see how much off I am. Nothing else.

And thanks for posting, Andreas, as I actually learned something today from that screenshot of yours.

You can tell this from a compressed jpg picture?? You are a funny guy!

There is no scaling in my video chain, I have a Oppo 105D (on source direct), Yamaha CX-A5000 (on passthrough) and an eeColor for calibration and then the projector. Very Happy

These pictures does not look good!

The wolfmans picture of the 3 kids look waay better.

And the projector I took the picture of, you have three options in my home the Sony HW55, VW1100 and JVC X500. The VW1100 is sold and leaving me soon. But it can also be Didderns 720p Optoma. Wink

This is actually not a great shot showing sharpness. Take a shot from Avatar, Oblivion, Prometheus or Pacific Rim then you will see a bigger difference in sharpness. I think Diddern posted some picture from Pacific Rim in this tread some months ago.

Ahh, ok. You made a little set up for me there and didn't post images from your 4K machine.. well if it's 720p then I have learned something from that too. I'll just have to wait until you reveal the truth about which one it was. It's a pity you both shy away from posting from the 4K machine though..

I'll look for Pacific Rim then.

The VW1100 is packed down and the only projector I have in my HT right now is the JVCX500. I use the HW55 for gaming and TV/series in my family room. So it is a picture from the JVC X500.

Why.. Its quite clear to see whats what. One of them have very very bad color resolution, and the other you can see is a low resolution picture, but it still holds up a much better color resolution.

No one is perfect, but if these pictures represent a bit of whats displayed on screen, ill easy tell the one ill be allergic to.

I hoped the bad color resolution was a camera issue, Andreas claims the camera/ picture is perfect, then the issues must be from the screen.

Thats the facts.. Wink

You are a funny guy! This is compressed screenshots, there is no color resolution issue in my setup.

And what is the native color resolution on a BD??

Please send the original picture file to my email.. stridsvognen@hotmail.com

Then it must be a issue happening in the picture process.
