These *look* OK. Is there any harm in heating up each leg with a fine tipped soldering iron? (Are these chips very sensitive to heat?)
Also, as its only the blue channel, that will be the only one I do.

Well I also see H1100 primary buffering amps so it's either a really old VIM from like 1995 or a really new VIM from VDC. VDC went back to the H1100 amps after the CL449 went out of production and that seems like a lazy-ass decision. There's much better chips out there and I think the H1100 is crap by todays standards,( just my opinion).
I guess what I'm trying to says don't bother repairing it. Get a better unit , either stock or modified with faster settling amps.

How confident are we that it is a VIM fault?

pretty confident, if you swapped the leads and the problem moved it's gotta be the VIM , no other explanation.
The rare 2035-03P VIM's are always popular with the high resolution crowd, especially if your running an early 02P with the crappy H1100 amps. the 03P was tested by Scott at VDC and proven more accurate on a 1080P wave-form, so it's a good unit.
