This is a new one on me, maybe I was just ignorant.
I bought a 9500 from a customer that had it sitting in the garage for 10+ years. He emailed, asking what the 'white stuff' was that covered about a 3' area around his projector... that was coming from the projector. I said that all I could think of was glycol, but typically it wouldn't evaporate.
So when I did my LA trip to go pick it up, indeed, there was this white crystalline substance all over his garage floor. I popped the cover of the projector, and the motherboard was literally covered in glycol. I left everything alone, told him to use a shopvac and mop to clean up the garage cement, and packaged up the 9500.
I put it on the bench last night, and most of the glycol on the motherboard had evaporated,. leaving more of the crystals behind, although there were a couple of puddles of glycol on the board.
Needless to say, it needed a new motherboard, and thankfully none of the glycol got into the backplane or other boards that I can see,
It looks like the green bellows ruptured, as I can't see any glycol in them and the R and B tube bellows are rock hard... so they're getting bled outside, and I'll be changing those bellows on all tubes. The glycol in the R and B is massively yellowed anyway.
So I guess over time that glycol does evaporate, I was always under the assumption that it didn't.

Interesting.... I didn't know this as well. But I never watched it long enough to evaporate.

Curt not sure how many bellows you have, but I'm running low. Just counted 24 left. Not sure if I'll order another 100. And If I dont then I'll have to place orders as they come and Then they charge more for small quantities. So not sure what I'll have to charge.
I'll post about the bellow supply on my bellow thread, maybe if enough people get on my ass I'll place my fourth order of 100.

I have about 8 here, and frankly, I don't use them that often. With tge 75 or so new tubes I have now in stock, I'm only changing bellows if I really need to. Pls let me know if you get down to about 10, and I'll probably grab 2 more sets off you for stock. Those 919s broke the bank for the next couple of weeks.

Guys I am going to chime in and confirm curt is is right as I just got mikes vision 3 and the blue tube sprung a leak long before he or I got it and it has evaporated and left behind a hard to clean mess
I am so happy the set was cealing mounted when said leak happened but I am suprised the blue tube didn't implode(if it was the orginal tube)as there was no glycol and I haven't see it leak out any since I put some in it(over 24 hours almost)
