I have to say,. I saw Mike's modded and hotrodded 9500, and it looked simply amazing. Zero white clipping, even at 100 contrast, superb detailed images off the 5th Element. Stock LCP tubes and GT 17 lenses. WOW!!!! |
Hey damnit don't leave me out of that equation, or a whole bunch of others here!
THE STACK LIVES!!!!! I finally fired it up tonight. Both projectors gave me crap. (right one took 4 starts (powercycles) to come up, left one the blue tube immediately said FU), but they are running!!!!!!!! SWEET!!!!!
Not to mention, the setup held up. Pretty awesome. |
I have thought of doing a stack but not sure(room wise)
What happened to the blue tube??
I have a marquee that has been modded by mike and I have to say it throws a great pic sucks that I end up with a bad neck board |
I inquired about this statement and got a picture of the neck board sent to me. It is not one of my neck boards. I asked Big E if it would be alright to post a picture of the neck board that he sent me in hopes of finding out who modified it. the only thing I'm seeing being changed on the board is the two electrolytics.

I looked at the picture of the neck board again. It's really dark, so I had to look very close. there are some things about it that resembles what I used to do. But looking at the filament wires being on top of the board and a few other things I'm not really able to make out. I would say it would be of the very earliest. like 8 years or more ago.
That version I'm not sure its worth me looking at, because I'm not sure I'll have any of the parts that I may have used back then. So I would suggest to Big E to look for a set of either stock or modified boards that show up from time to time, and swap out all three of them at one time. Since I would not be able to match it or may not be able to repair it, for several reasons.

My test Marquee is down at the time, plus I don't have a spare set of neck boards at the time. I don't think a newer set of neck boards would mate properly with whatever you may have for a VIM, so that's why I suggested that you go stock or look for something a year or so older.
We can take it to email from her though, I'll be out for awhile and back later.

Good times today in Washington DC. Backstage tour of part of the Smithsonian despite the closure, that was cool. Ended up walking about 5 miles from Capitoll Hill to the Tidal Basin to the White house with one of the women in charge at the Smithsonian. Super nice people, good tines, and then good sushi at Whole Foods. Whatever weight I may have gained eating burgers in the last 2 weeks, I lost today.

I've told many people about Mike's projector and I don't think everyone believes what I tell them. That projector is absolutely stunning and the amount of light it can put out without clipping is simply blazing.
When are you getting up my way Curt? This Barco is sitting here pining for you

In Pottstown PA right now. Get this: Free drink at the pub next door when spending a night at the Quality Inn! Woohoo!
Had a nice dinner with a forum member, saw a fantastic rebuilt 1928 (?) pipe organ at a big band hall he maintains, way cool to see. I have pix and video on my Iphone.
Will be in Chicago from Friday to Monday. Sat will be at Cliff's place, and Monday as well if Nash comes down, so that leaves Sunday open if you're available.
got too many stories, good and bad, just on this road trip alone. Washington DC was amazing, took over 400 pix there alone...

These special parts are traveling more than some members here.
The funny thing about this trip is that no one realizes that Curt is working. He is a mild mannered tech during tho day, but does his contract killing at night.

So it looks like the shutdown is over? Exactly 24 hours too late for me to see the Smithsonian, go figure, but at least I'll be able to go to Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone next week!
Also, you all will note that the gov't is back in action the day after a sole Canadian leaves DC.

Hey Curt,
Virginia gets home from Germany on Sunday at around noon and I am sure that after two weeks on the road and a 10 hour flight that she would prefer a quiet house. We could hang on Sunday if that's all that works, but Monday would be better. I'll rearrange to free up Monday.
I'll phone you today.

After meeting and chatting you Curt, I could go along with you playing a part in the change in DC. After all, our whole political system is mess, and since you are one of the great fix-it guys and also a very balance person overall. I would buy that you could have imparted some wisdom on some of our politicians. Especially knowing that there's also a bunch of idiots in both the Senate and Congress.
