|
|
Hi, I just acquired a set of Sony 1292 yokes, 1-452-811-11 / KPG15, and am trying to figure out the pinout to use these on my 9500. Most of the pictures from the original instructions seem to be gone but I was able to download a diagram Joust posted on page 8.
https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=2498.html
This diagram shows a 9 pin cable with these colors starting at pin 1: black, blue, violet, red, green, white, orange, yellow, brown. The problem is that my cables have these colors starting at pin 1: yellow, yellow, brown, orange, orange, red, green, brown, violet. Has anyone seen these before and should I just ignore the colors and wire them up based on the pin numbers from Joust?
Thanks,
Brian

I have one of the pictures saved but I have G90 coils and have yet attempted to tackle them as I am still restoring the boards.
Hope this helps you out.
Maybe Nash still has some of the information saved?
James

Thanks, that is the picture I downloaded as well that Joust posted. The problem is that the 9 pin cable on mine has completely different colored wires than what is shown in Joust's picture. I'm hoping someone can confirm if the pinout is the same or not.

Yep, they are a labor of love. I've been messing with them for about 13 years or so, so I know what you mean. I was hoping someone could help me out on this one so I don't have to drill the rivets out and confirm the connections inside.

That's the same docs that I have as well but thank you for posting them. If you compare the wire colors in those docs with the picture I posted above, you can see the wire colors on my yokes are completely different.

According to the above picture you posted the wire colours in the .DOC file I posted are correct.
Sony Yellow1-Ground
Sony Yellow2-White4 on Marquee Stig harness
Sony Brown3-Red4 on Marquee Focus harness
Sony Orange4-Violet3 on Marquee Stig harness
Sony Orange5-Black3 on Marquee Focus harness
Sony Red6-Light Blue2 on Marquee Stig harness
Sony Green7-Yellow2 on Marquee Focus harness
Sony Brown8-Gray1 on Marquee Stig harness
Sony Violet9-Orange1 on Marquee Focus harness
Brown and Green on Marquee Focus harness are not used.
Unless I am missing something here it looks ok to me.
Make sense now?

Stupid me, I opened your pdf file only and not the doc file. Thank you very much, I had not found that doc file before, that is exactly what I needed! Time to get busy with my soldering iron...
Thanks!

It looks like the pinout is the same as I had hoped/suspected, thank you very much for helping me confirm that so I don't have to crack one of these open!

No problem. Glad I could pay it forward for once.

Hi,
Just one question:
The original Marquee focus coils do contain a PTC which returns a variable resistance (depending on the coil's temperature) to the Focus board. My assumption is that this is being used in order to compensate for temperature drift. As there's no PTC inside the Sony coils, these connections have to be left open. Nevertheless, the Marquee schematics clearly show that there's some circuitry which influences the static focus drivers.
Don't You think that this might negatively affect the Frankenyoke's performance?
I would suggest tearing apart one of the Marquee focus coils, looking after the PTC's position / value (can be measured) and mounting an equivalent part inside the Sony coil housings...
Regards,
barclay66

I think I've read discussion here about people suggesting that but so far I don't think anyone has tried it. It sounds like it works fairly well just to leave it disconnected.
