i am surprised as to how this thread has turned out

calm down guys i didn't intend on this just wanted to see if anybody had seen the beast i had linked to Very Happy not start a argument

but if anyone would mind and has got a screen shot of such a beast in action please post it as i would like to see the image(i know it can get altered by the camera some)

ps case you were right about the p16 tubes my samsung tv has being 8 inch tubes(compared my old tube to mounting hardware i had from a 7 inch tubed set and its bigger so i guess that explains why samsung can put the 1080i badge on the front of the set this is a 16:9 screened tv not 4:3 just got one more part to get)i think i found the wrong service manual for it as it listed 7 inch tubes (not right Shocked )

There is some information in this AVS thread. Look at port 8.

I have no way of determining if he did actually contact Barco.

I looked at it man they pull less then a marquee does on resale(not that it would matter) but the rarity of the set and parts would make one a no go anyway
I just happened to googling online and came accross the one in the link I posted and considering it was late night when I found it I thought I was seeing things Very Happy due to needing sleep but I looked the next day and I wasn't
Could anyone post a link for the Panasonic that had the 12 inch tubes that had been mentioned in the thread

Yes, Panasonic also listed them as 7" tubes in their GAOO TVs, however that is reference to usable area. Alot of rear projection LC housings blank off a portion of the tube face too, cause itll never be used and improves contrast by reducing unwanted light output.

Being that youre somewhat newer to this forum than some of us here, you may think we are arguing over this, but we are not. What we are doing is giving our opinions based on experience and reading, we may never see eye to eye on these things, but it does not mean we are at each other's throats in argument. You will notice there has not been one single personal attack made in this thread, which reiterates my statement above.

Everyone is calm, and i believe i speak for quite a few here when i say we are friends to some degree. If you do alot if reading here you may see that Gabór and I are quite often in agreement with most things, however this time we are on different lines of thought, and that does not mean either one of us doesnt like or respect the other, it simply means we are using our god given right to express our opinions. And the fact we can do that here is what makes this forum one of the best ive ever been involved with.

Macgyver is a very knowlegable and very experienced man, and anyone that chooses to enter into an argument with him is asking to be shot down in flames. Again i dont believe Gabór was arguing with him, but was simply stating his take on the way things are in his eyes.

Yes i read quite abit on 909s and it seems he is probably the most experienced voice when it comes to those. I posted a couple links somewhere in this thread, i think one was AVS, but im not sure what the others were. I read for almost 3 hours and many many threads.

Ok I wondered why the manual stated one thing yet the number on the tube was not matching to the size spec listed I did notice the wear area was close to the edge of the tube face(a safe distence though)

Sorry if I thought you guys were arguing it happens a lot sometimes on the other forum and it tends to get annoying how carried away some the member get but I have befriended a lot of them so I know that they are proving a point (just not used to this type yet) but on the other forum I had a new guy attack me (i am a high ranking member now to boot) so I reported him as I knew he would cause trouble to the other members

Heck doc Hollywood lives about a 8 hour drive from me and I would like to go and visit him sometime since I bought his 10pg so I can see his current setup (last I heard he got a Sony g90 set up by a pro)

I have pm'ed tinman(even though he has went to the bright side(digital)about his fan mod(not sure if I will start swapping out the boards in my set just yet got to make sure I get it working first)

But crt is a hobby I enjoy for sure and have enjoyed it for years(and tinkering around with it since I was 8(25now) though I have yet to get up the nerve to work on a drect view tv again as I had a friend ask me to work on a 19 inch once and being inches away from the tube unnerved me)
