So here you go, mount, room and the storage room that cleared out everything so it's all in one place. Convenient light fixture I switched to a plug for projector. Smile Used to be a dead florescent light. Yes, I'll completely block the window. Speakers are PSB's

I Probably should have painted the 2x10 board white first... oh well. lol

Looking at that mount picture again I'm going to have to remove the door or have it swing in (talk about being focused on one thing only). Once the projector is up it won't open... doh!

Be glad you haven't came close to dropping a picture tube just inches away from yourself Shocked yes I have done that and no it wouldn't have been fun as I would have never found a replacement tube(its now safe in its new home in my samsung tv thank goodness)

love your avatar reminds me of how i was towards digital projectors(the picture quality did make me want to puke at times one being the rainbow effect yes i did notice it yet no one else in the family did Rolling Eyes curse my good eyesight Evil or Very Mad but it was the reason i got a crt projector(now have two Very Happy Very Happy )

Yeah, that would have hurt.

Even with todays digitals my wife especially has issues watching them. I'd love the convenience of a digital, but they still have a long way to go before I'd think about getting one. Both projectors would have to die on me first and I have a whole pile of new parts for the marquee that should give it a good long life.

When I was first getting into CRT I found it on another CRT website.

I agree digital projectors are convent but I can see the screen door effect on them(and not that far from my screen) but the tipping point that made me come back to crt was the true black(haven't seen a digital that can do that YET) but I have two crt projectors(my Ecp4101 and my nec 10pg) and if they both quit I can get another from curt to replace them so it will be awhile till I go back to a digital

That major issue was I also have a led lit digital and can still see the rainbow effect(slightly)

If I had dropped that picture tube(thank god I didn't) I would have ended up in the hospital for a week or two needless to say it taught me not to work on stuff like this when I am tired(I know not to rush at least Mr. Green )

The tube I am talking about went in a samsung projection tv that I am repairing(got it from a friend for free) the sears "repair" guy claimed it uneconomical to repair I have found sources for the tube(got the last one) and the other parts I need to repair it and it is cheaper then the flat panel sears gave him(I felt bad for him as he downgraded in picture quality because of that) but the samsung gave him ten years of trouble free service before the convergence amp board failed nuking the red tube and its neck board in the process(major ouch) but all he told me was it made a popping noise then the set turned off(fail safe as a tad too late)

But I've only got picture from the set one time so I know it is worth repairing(just have to order the convergence amp board)

Well duh Rolling Eyes

We're using a pair of Boston Acoustic VR-30s for the mains. Any idea what would match those well for surrounds?

sounds like someone is being crabby Very Happy Very Happy but I agree get that setup done and enjoy it(I may spring for a marquee set the day the tubes die in my nec provided curt is still in business at the time it does(may not take me long as I watch my setup a lot(thinking of doing a second setup in my bedroom with my Ecp since I will be using my nec for the home theater setup not sure on the plans yet)

To unclewill you look not far from me if you want come and drop in sometime( just let me know before you do)and I will let you see my nec 10pg in action when I get it up and running and fully calibrated(do it myself if it ain't already)

How did you attach that 2x10 to the ceiling? I see what looks like small screws. BAD idea. Very bad DAF if the projector falls on his head. Very Happy You want a minimum of 4 good-size lag screws driven into joists. Then before you hoist your projector, hang from the mount and bounce around a little. If it supports you, it should support the CRT OK.

For raising the beast, I used Clarence's chain-lift idea:

I lifted my Marquee 8500 by myself, 30 minutes from "on the floor, hook up the chains" to "take off the chains, it's in the mount."

Exsact resion I didn't ceiling mount my Ecp and I ain't going to mount my nec 10pg either I wouldn't want neither beast to fail and possiblely land on and hurt someone

Pff. You worried about the ceiling falling on your head too? It's heavier than your projector.

Mount it well, and it ain't goin' nowhere. I have 4 lag screws on each side of my unistrut mount. I hung from each side and bounced as hard as I could, and nothing budged. If each side of strut can handle a dynamic bouncing 180lb load without moving, then each side will have no trouble supporting half of a 150lb projector. As long as you don't screw up bolting your projector to the mount, it's no more likely to fall than the ceiling is.
