The only way to confirm interlaced is to watch the Win desktop, see if symbol size matches the higer resolution and then check scan rate in the menu of CRT projector/monitor. But save your time.... |
I tried some resolutions on my monitor, forgot which one but past 1920, and pushed power off and back on again, which shows actual resolution, and the resolution had been scaled down to show an image @ 1700+ lines horizontal. So that is a way to confirm for sure. I need a better monitor and a new graphics card to.
Even though I can access both my hard drives now, as before, something has been messed up because my monitor still not showing an image with 817p and 1080p.. So I use my pj to go online now. I will do myself a favour and reinstall Windows and get it back in working order. It's no big deal. At least I learned a lot doing this back and forth and reading many post about it. There is no hands on manual for doing this sort of thing.
EDIT: I can use my monitor now, taking a breather for some hours and got back on it half-solved it. My monitor is set up to 1920x1080p@59Hz now.. and yet it shows to be downscaled to 1728x1080@72Hz with power off and on again routine. I believe I was going for maybe 2560x1080@72Hz interlaced before, maybe, but got this blank screen instead. I tried so many resolutions I can't remember now. Well, as the image shows my computer needs a new instalment of Windows to be in proper order. But it's doable as it is to.

As I said, you can have intelraced, but not past 1920 horizontally (!). For example 1920x2160i can be done with every GPU, 1920x1080i or your 1720xsomthingi can be done interlaced. But also the scanrate (khz number) you prensented on the picture does show they are not interlaced at you setup - but I am not sure what you want to show with your screen shot?
2560x1080i would be a success, or 3840x2160i or 3820x1600i.

And please come back with a screen shot of 2560x1080i at 72hz, and a KHZ of a little bit more than 40 (on your screen H = 40 kHz V = 72Hz). If not I am out of this.

My shot shows different resolution at the same time. Not sure Which one is actually used. It's not in working order but it'll sort itself out with a reinstall of Windows. I'll do it some day when my modded parts are back. As long as my pj are hooked up alone it seems to work out fine as I'm typing this now that way in 817p@72Hz. That should work well with the monitor as well as I always had it that way before, only not so good any longer. I'll be fine, don't worry about that.

No I have to disappoint you. The reason your monitor or the vp in your monitior interprets plain 1920x1080 as 1728x1080 is that you obvious use a 16/10 LCD (if not, the videoprocessor of your monitor defiines the input as 16/10). 1080 divided by 10 and multiplied by 16 is 1728! Thats why he shows 1080p input as 1728 and not 1920. I also pretty sure that you use a 16/10 LCD, because your screenshot shows a wrong aspect ratio (16/9 frame on a 16/10 screen - yes I am sensible to that). But most importantly your menu screen shot asks for 1920x1200 as optimum resolution - 16/10.

You solved the mystery! That's exactly right. I set it back to 1920x1200 just now also. But there is still something fundamentally wrong with the computer, but it's doable as it is. I'll fix it one day or another. Thanks for the help you all.

Noos, I was able to pick up a EVGA Titan SC car this Christmas.. Do you have info for the max analog out settings vs the GTX 780? I will find out shortly..

I never expect more than 400mhz. But I am really like to know what you will find out! A good try would also be quadro cards.

Concerning max resolutions: Probabaly some have problemes with the 400mhz fot the RAMDAC (analog), or 165mhz for DVI. Multiply horizontal pixel with vertical with refreh rate. And then add about ten percent for blnking/porches. Example: 3840x1600x60= 368640000. So these 368,64 plus 10%= ~399mhz
You stay below 400mhz RAMDAC

And if you want to run test on interlaced use half vertical resolution for calculations. Example: 3840x1600i:
3840 multiplied by 800(!) multiplied by 60=......
But be careful, the resolution will be listed and can be choosen, but you projector menu will tell you by the scan rate the it is progressive output..

Here a way to generate 4k/UHD interlaced test patterns and probably a way to run UHD files video files. I keep it short, as I am not sure anyone will test this:
Use a 7series graphic card (7200-7900GTX/7950gt or their SLI versions) and CRU (Custom Resolution Utility). A 7 series card will intelrace anything, even in WIN7. I did go past 6000 on the horizontal with them!
This message will self destruct in the next 12 hours. If anyone cares about this and needs help - I will be online this night - and then again on and after Monday.

I'm bringing this threat up because i'm trying to output higher resolutions with my HTPC on VGA.
Do you guys know how to trick a Nvidia geforce 9400 onboard video card to output 3840x2160i 60hz. on VGA?
I tried with CRU and am able to add resolution but it didn't show up in Nvidia display control. I'm using display firmware 327.23 and deleted GeForce Experience as suggested here.

As some of you might imagine, this REALLY interests me. It ties in very nicely with my "Barquee Cine 9500LCHR" ultra high resolution project.
A BASIC question, though:
How, exactly, are you getting the high res content into the Marquee chassis?
Is it done, for example, over the DVI connector on the video card, with a breakout cable to RGBHV?
Or is there a mod involving the video card and a BNC connector retrofit?
Or what?
I'm guessing that it's done via the breakout cable, but the best way to find out is to ask, not guess.

This interest me very much too, but I have to excuse myself for not making much sense a lot of the times in this thread, and to make matters worse, I now have Win 10 installed.
Here's a good video I encountered today.

I'm going to try and figure this out tonight. Using Phoenix EDID designer, and monitor asset manager: http://screenarchery.wikia.com/wiki/Downsampling_–_A_full_guide_to_achieve_3840x2160_resolution_–_NVIDIA_only
You'll need a Nvidia video card or onboard videocard. You can use a DVI-D breakout to 5bnc cable. Better to solder directly on your videocard 5bnc breakout as I did. Resolution I'm aiming at will be 2880x1620p, 3840x2160i or 3840x1620p
Lets see what the Barco is capable of and what it will resolve with the simu grade Lug's, and video chain modifications.

I got my Marquee to lock onto 2560x1080p@60Hz! The grid lines looks thicker than usual, but in reality they look as thin as 800p - to me. That's what I like about my installed 9518 parts, they seem to make the image sharper.
Currently it has FY II - MP VNB - stock VIM 02. I will swap back to my modded VIM03 soon, as I think that one was better after all, it was just to see how 9518 VIM would look like. It is not set up though so there is room for improvement.
I hope I haven't made any errors.
My computer has a ASUS GTX 960 graphics card installed.
