That's really good to know. The more I thought about it the more sense it makes with a new better graphics card anyway, as I'm using an old GT430 now.. But with what you suggested, I could also make more use of a new graphics card other just sound. Maybe even start playing some games. Smile

EDIT:

I had a look at my GT430 and noticed that I have a spare DVI-I available. My monitor has a VGA and DVI input - and the card has 1 HDMI for the pj, 1 VGA to monitor (VGA to DVI cable) and 1 DVI-I left. I have DVI to HDMI adapter also.. maybe I don't even need a new graphics card. Though I'm not a fan off adapters so would like to keep it HDMI to HDMI for the pj. Well, we'll see what happens when the receiver gets here.

The DVI-I connection is an analog out as well as digital. The little adaptor is only changing plug type.

While on the subject. Could a better graphics card have a better impact on the image? Or is that just for gaming?

You may as well post a link on the exact same card your using and I'll look for it on Ebay.

Okay just tried some different setups!

on DVI my monitor at 2560x1440 72hz
on HDMI my receiver with no projector connected

Using extended display mode it works, using a player and maximizing the image on my monitor i have the full resolution and sound through the receiver.

However this does mean that there is now 1 desktop which i can't see. Minor annoyance but it does work!

I can only assume this would also work on nvidia cards!

Sorry, I didn't see this until now. But thanks for letting me now.. sounds good! Maybe I can use the spare DVI socket for audio. Or shift the different sockets around until it works, because I also have 3 sockets just not 3 HDMI. Saved me some dolleros with this hopefully.

I tried 1080p72 + clone but that did not work, my reciever failed to lock on to the HDMI signal.

But i'm sure some reciever can do it!

Mine doesnt, but itll pass it through, so its not an issue. What i usually do though is clone the monitor with the receiver and make the projector the primary display on its own.

Tried yesterday, my onkyo on passthrough works with 1080p72 and it even shows the OSD!

If this works = excellent solution!
