So uhh... what are you telling me you have not told us before?

I was mocking the difference between "your" and "you're".

Anyway, next time you'll know to buy a _real_ projector! Twisted Evil

Hey Guys.. there is a PM function where you can handle personal matters.

I also fail to understand how the coments about Barco NEC and other non Electrohome Marquee help this guy to get the 8500 up running.

What i understand is that he needs help / advice to get this machine up running for around 0$ if possible.

And i think its worth checking what smoked in the HVPS, i think its only the HV transformer whos Sealed.

See if its just a cap that dried out shorted and and started to smoke, or its more serious.

Im sure someone in here WHO know the marquee HVPS will be able to tell what might be the reason if the failed component can be located.

A 10PG doesnt have a 40,000:1 contrast ratio, look at the specs here: http://www.curtpalme.com/PJSpecs_NEC.shtm

on they are part... WHUT?

Even when I'm not conversing in my native language I can be a spelling nazi! Razz

At least it's better with a Barco; you can learn quite a bit from their SMPS and the service manual.

Me too yes, its not hard to spell and use correct grammer.

Wait... what? I didn't read the last pages.. I thought the machine was going to be cleaned up, and cleaning boards and drying them properly takes a few weeks, not days, so thought nothing was really happening at the moment.

So you decidet to help him drying the boards.?

I think in general its polite to read the hole thread, and at least try to understand what the starter needs, so it dont get to meeningless and OT.

There is also a Off topic section for people whos bored and just want to write about whatever nonsens they have in mind.

Lets take this matter elswhere.. start a thread, or write me a PM if u wish to debate it further.

Thanks guys started getting out of hand there for a bit there was caps lock and all happening Sad well I poped oped the hvps (I'm learned the lingo Smile ) and on the control board that plugs into the main of the hvps there is a busted cap close to the led... Looks like its labeled c26 on the board I'll take a pic and post it in a few minutes... Pretty sure curt or some might be able to get the board to me quite cheap from a smoked hvps but if anyone knows what cap it is I might try replace it whilst I'm waiting for it to come....

Thought it was ... It was the only thing I didn't pull apart as I was a little scared of it 8x closer inspection shows c27 blew... I'm thinking its the same as a few other caps on the same board so I might take a guess if no one else has one apart...

The set had been in the weather for who knows how long trust me never assume it is dry

I had seen a computer like this and after it had sat for a few days next to a window so the sun would heat it up

it powered up and worked(it was a laptop the had been dropped in water)as last I heard from the owner still works though the battery had to be replaced(sucker had puffed up from water shortage Shocked needless to say I didn't want hold it long(the owner has since replaced the battery))

I would exercise extreme caution when working on the high voltage power supply as it can store a charge but it may not have its charge(still be careful)

It wont store a charge. The tubes store a charge.

Don't replace that cap on a whim, it may not be anything like the others.
