So something horrible happened to my Runco 1100. I was storing it in my garage and the lens covers got knocked off of the lenses, and it looks like the lens magnified the sun and actually melted the surface of the tube. Sad Does anyone know if that front curved portion of the tube is replaceable with one from an older tube or is the entire thing is one piece? I'm really hoping they're replaceable or there's something I can do because they only have 800 hours on them.

It isn't the tube that's melted. The melted pieces are actually lenses, and are called c-elements. They are separate from the tubes, and are replaceable, so thats good. Unfortunately the tinted c-elements are becoming increasingly difficult to get your hands on. Someone here will be able to tell you just how hard.

Do a search here for "sun c-element", looking for both terms and you'll find some other threads where the same thing has happened to others, whether the projector was in a living room, garage, or even a car.

Bummer. Sorry that happened.

Yes the dark spots are just shadows fortunately. I'm thinking of looking for a burned out/old tube to salvage one from. These are made of plastic right?

The green one has a few small warps in it but I think it's tolerable for now. And Curt I'll take it! Orange is my favorite color anyways Wink

Put lens covers on or store your projector in a HT room without sunlight.

Will these c-elements work to replace those in the melted Runco 1100/1209s? Not quite as cheap as Curt's $10 clear, but it looks like a great deal for him to get a clean green again.
