I went d!gital! ....well to the tune of $40

I bought a JVC DILA G11U for the hell of it. FedEx smashed it in shipping. Confused

Anyone got a lamp exhaust fan and fan grill? The big one beside the handle.

Man, They can break anything and everything. Sorry to hear.

Does the fan still work?
Or got a Model number?

Cheers

Nope they shattered the fan. I found pieces in the bulb compartment. I guess I'll have to figure out how this thing comes apart when I have a few minutes. Doesn't look like they made it too service friendly.

I believe that grill is part of the bottom cover.

This should be the correct bottom: http://www.partstore.com/Part/Matsushita/JVC/LC20042023B/New.aspx

And this should be the correct fan: http://www.partstore.com/Part/Matsushita/JVC/QAR0059002/New.aspx

Hehehe!

You know these JVC's weigh between 30-35lbs and have the ability to hold doors open. Laughing

The seller has another non-working unit. I'm trying to get him to take it apart and send me the fans. He's not to quick with the reply though

I would have home send the bottom also if he can and will considering the other one is a parts unit
Keep after him till your happy(I would if it was me and this happened to me)

I still would have FedEx remburse you for the damage done to the projector though

A claim would be up to the seller wouldn't it? Would they pay part damages on a $40 projector or would they want it shipped back? Hmmmmm

I would get in contact with FedEx and explain what happened to the projector while they had it as they aren't supposed to damage the stuff they ship for people and see what they say heck there's no telling what the outcome will be so its worth a try

Yes, the seller would have to initiate the claim - the sooner it's done, the better the chance that you'll have of getting it approved. The good news is FedEx automatically insures all of their packages for $100, so you'd be covered up to that amount even if there was no extra insurance on the PJ. However an inspector will have to come take a look at the unit as well as the original packaging before the claim gets processed and approved. If you have the parts numbers and prices handy at that time and you explain that you just want the cash for the replacement parts you'll most likely get it, as FedEx's only other alternative would be to pay to ship the unit to JVC to have it repaired by a technician.

I've dealt with multiple electronics damage claims with FedEx and UPS and I've yet to been denied a claim. Of course, I usually pay for pretty hefty amounts of insurance, so that defintely works in my favor. But this seems pretty clear cut and I'll guess that the parts that you want would be cheap, so I don't see why FedEx wouldn't approve your claim once they come take a look at everything.

Thanks for the info.

Next time I'll know. I'll just write this one off. The box and packing material are gone. I had this shipped to my friend in the US and picked it up last week. I'm back home now so it was FedEx USA that broke it, FedEx Canada wouldn't do anything about it and the guy that sold it to me is MIA.

On the plus side I did get a remote control that works Laughing

Update: The seller got back to me. He was busy at home with life.

No problem, he's going to take his parts projector apart and send me the fan and grill. I'll let you know if it shows.

This Is why I went back to crt but to each they're own

The cost of going back to digital is more then I like for the picture quality you get from most digital projectors
