I've never shipped tubes before, so who "handles with care" the best as far as shipping carriers go? And I think I know the answer to this, but just checking, is it safe to ship tubes with the magnetics on them? I'm guessing probably not...?

FedEx...UPS sucks, whenever something says fragile, they run a fork through it and possibly even drop kick it.

Yes

UPS sucks definitely, but the grand prize goes to DHL for bringing me a cast autographed Gladiator poster, crushed, with tire tread marks on the cardboard tube.........insured but it was two months getting it replaced. The coward DHL driver just dumped it on my front porch, I saw him creep away as I was returning home.

That's odd how everyone is downing ups I have had two tubes brought to me by ups and both were intact(I agree dhl sucks) but so far haven't had this happen but I use both ups and FedEx (use dhl one time and won't ever again as they are slow)

One had the yoke on it the other one didn't(had to send the first one back since I didn't want to risk the tube by removing it but both did arrive in one peice the one without the yoke is in my samsung rptv(both came from Florida to my house here in Tennessee)

But lately ups has gotten so they have put me as the last stop on the route(which sucks big time)

But I am getting another projector and it will shipped FedEx

Sounds like FedEx is the choice of many. That's how my XG tubes came when I bought them from Greg. I appreciate all the advice guys! Thanks Smile

Make sure you insure them for the value of the tube should they get broke

Never had a problem with UPS and I had all 31 thomas tubes shipped by them. All came in perfect condition.

UPS are complete *******. That's the only description for them.

I always deal with USPS. They haven't broken a tube yet, and I have shipped about 20 in the last 2 weeks. The trick is to get the receiver to open the box IN FRONT OF THE DELIVERY DRIVER OR AT THE DEPOT before signing off on it.

I just lost another projector because a customer blindly signed the waybill without opening the box. 2 out of 3 tubes smashed, and it was a Barco 808, and most of you know how well those are built.

I have a hard line now. If you sign the waybill without checking the parts or the projector, it's not my issue. YOU deal with trying to get money from the truck lines. Ditto with UPS. Sign the waybill as RECEIVED IN GOOD ORDER and you're screwed.

I will not be using ups for my shipments for stuff like this only thing is the seller I got my tube for my samsung tv used ups( and really didn't package the tube well(newspaper spreads in the bottom of the box really(luckily he had wrapped the whole tube in a vast amount of bubble wrap)

But I am getting another projector soon and will open the box before they leave it at my house

Curt when you get the Ecp tubes for me can you get me a hinge(I broke one on mine by mistake)

BTW, just to demonstrate what goes on behind the scenes, I saw a forklift driver flip a large crate on it's side with the forklift. Either the crate had rolled 90 degrees and he was righting it, which is what I think happened, or he just was being an ass by turning it 90 degrees. With the BANG it made on the dock, I estimate 500 lbs+ and I saw that it belonged to www.acipower.com

I had the wherewithall to call the company to let them know about potential damage to their freight but no one has called me back yet.

I have received "Tubes" from international sellers using USPS and up to this point there has been no issue. They are usually the best price for that size item.

FWIW, UPS just jacked their rates up significantly about 6-8 weeks ago. If you're not convinced that couriers do a worse job shipping stuff than USPS, then check prices, as I think domestically in the US, the couriers may now be cheaper. I'm personally sticking with USPS, but will probably either start doing postage online to save some money, or use an outfit like stamps.com to save a few $$.
