Found this in town on the curb for trash. To pretty to leave there.

Not much inside anymore.

A few minutes work and some magic dust and wallah!

2-3 bad power supply caps. Or the Tcon fuse. Smile

MY score wasn't free this week, but a CL find in Seattle. An Otari MX55 pro reel to reel in near mint shape for $200. The guy that was selling it found it at a thrift store. I'm guessing he paid $50 for it, but I was happy to pay $200. The whole RTR market is pretty depressed right now, but when the economy gets better, it should be worth $600. No usage of the splice block, no wear on the heads.

Shall I say you suck(most flat panels have busted panels I was given a sony like that but the rest of the stuff in it is good if anybody needs parts)
The companies are making these sets mostly as throw away sets(they come out with new ones almost every year)
But I will warn anyone who thinks these flat panel tvs are cheaper to fix(if the panel is busted its trash as the panel is more then the retail cost(900 for a Sony 32inch LCD ouch)

No on your first guess. No parts were changed. You will probably never guess. Here's another picture that may help.

Other then the back missing I don't see any problem(iPhone screen is small and can't see much detail)

I know, right? I happened to go to Seattle to buy 2 projectors, and scoured CL before I left. Great timing, the guy was really nice too, and is keeping his eye out for other vintage audio stuff.

Mac, I'll guess a bad ribbon cable connection!

The two ribbon connectors to the input board came loose or off some how. The different tape holding it down is the give away, you put that there.

Right?

No, that tape is factory. I should of taken a closeup picture of the problem but I didn't and the rear cover is back on and finished.

But, if you look at the picture of the power supply board at the upper left corner you can kinda see the diagonal line near that little white blob. Blob is factory by the way. Anyways, that corner of the board was snapped off and a couple traces were broken. I have no idea how it happened. Took about 3 minutes to repair. Wish they were all that easy.

Haven't found any Curb flat panels around here yet, doubt I will too, because they usually get picked up by people that come to me to see if I can fix them Laughing

Nice score mac, though I doubt it beats my 1996 Windows 95 HP Vectra which I managed to restore and score a nice $228 for.

Excellent find on the HDTV Thumbs Up

In a strange coincidence, I grabbed a very similar 1080p LG set from the recycler yesterday. The guy said the woman said that it worked but would 'cut out'. I've run it for 18 hours now, the thing works fine. No bulging caps, nada.

I run it until tomorrow and it goes on CL.

That's like sending a car to a mechanic. It never miss-behaves while it's there.
