i will most likely end up being the same way since i have my audio system with great equipment now(and a sweet vintage pair of infinity rs-5 speakers(would love to have a set of irs betas though but that happening is slim))
i listened to some of micheal jackson live materal on my system if i close my eyes it feels like i am there(rip micheal king of pop )
i might as well match the great sounding audio system with a great picture
i have vintage infinity speakers on my home theater system(except my jbl sub which has decided to give me issues and no warranty)may repair it (sometime)

Perhaps, one more you can add to the list is that in order to reach that unattainable state of "audio nirvana", you spend the majority of your time "tinkering" with the equipment as opposed to finally sitting down for awhile just listening to what you already have.

That list aside from 2 or 3 things... fits me perfectly
I have audio equipment totaling the value greater than that of what I owe on my house yet! Not an easy task to accomplish mind you
I love display tech, but nothing beats a kick ass clean & great sounding stereo system
Oh... And each of my speakers are about what my weight is, except for my old HT speakers and my AR-3As (though they are still heavy little beasts!)
Im working on finding a good 4th AR-3A to go with my lone wolf that I picked up with the other pair I have. The guy I got them from loved AR speakers, and he had a few that weren't paired. Hopefully I can get a 2nd pair going for my Pioneer Series 20 system.

I'll settle for a pair of Paradigm Monitor 11 v.2's to finish my 5.1 system. I passed on a pair 10 years back and have been looking ever since.

Sounds like my Boston Acoustics Lynnfield 400L speakers. Got them from an estate sale and they are SUPER rare, and one of them had a blown crossover and tweeter. It took 6 months before I found the tweeter, and then I rebuilt both crossovers with new mylar capacitors & stone resistors.
Turns out there is a guy on Audiogon who has the same set, and somewhat surprisingly the same exact issue, which leads me to believe there is a flaw in the crossover design or the quality of the components that were used in the crossover.
aside from that guy, I have NEVER seen a pair of these available for sale, and the one ad I did find on canuk audio mart sold for $3,000 which is pretty close to retail.
I never thought much of BA speakers until I got these. The only problem is now Denon owns BA and they turned them into crap speakers. The Lynnfield 400L, 300L (bookshelves) and 500L (big 2 piece monsters) are their best speaker line ever produced. Manufactured in 1996 and still kick some major ass in 2013. The sound that comes from these speakers has to be heard since I couldn't accurately describe their incredible sound.
Nice speakers, especially with the isobaric woofer design, no visible woofers! Only the midrange and tweeter are visible. You would not believe the bass that comes out of them, I sure didn't!
I never had them at full tilt yet, but I'm conservative when it comes to blasting the tunes. 350W RMS per speaker being driven by my Parasound HCA 3500 amp. Just about the sweetest thing ever.
The only con to the set is they didn't make a center channel for it, but I've had my eye on a couple of the Paradigm center channels out there, the specs are pretty linear with what my BAs are capable of so one of their center channel speakers should work great.
