My old, Palme-refurbed, Eisemann-modified, and heretofore reliable Graphics 808 suddenly winked off last night. Kept running, no smell or heat or other indication of problem, just no picture whatsoever. I have no idea where to start.

Check the red LEDF on the EHT board:
http://curtpalme.com/Barco808_Layout1.shtm
(labelled high voltageéG2 board in he above pix.)
You can see the red light at an angle through the back grille. A bit tough to see, but it`s there. If the image is on, the light will be off, and if the set is in HV failure mode, the light is usually on. There`s lots of other faUults that can cause a no picture condition, but that`s the most common one.
I`m out of town until May 6, but check emails once a day while on the road.

I am, of course, in Princeton, NJ. I did finally manage to locate the led, and it is on and it is red.

Most likely you need an HV quadrupler, but it's best to send me yours first to make sure it's bad., I just bought 12 in LA, so I've got good stock when I get back. Email me at curtpalme at shaw.ca and I'll send you instructions how to send them in.
