Hi All,
Tuesday eve, the pj stopped projecting an image twice (would run for a minute or two, then lose the image. Machine continued to run). I decided to leave it for the night and investigate in the morning.
Wednesday morning, my kid turned it on. No image appeared and after about a minute, we heard almost a sizzling or whistling noise and then a loud pop! Then this incredibly horrible smell started wafting out and I shut down the machine immediately.
That was about it. I'm afraid to turn it back on until further educated. I did find a thread about glycol leak that seems to be the closest to what I've experienced. However, there wasn't really any warning, or a blue convergence shimmy. Just kind of happened quickly. PJ is ceiling mounted.
Any help is appreciated as always.

HV quadrupler most likely. Pull it out and check it, I'm sure that's where it's coming from. That, or the HV splitter. I've got stock of both parts.

Hi. How do I check these? I think I've figure out which they are. How much are the parts? Does the splitter require soldering?

Yes the splitter needs soldering, but only if that's the bad piece. There's no way to test them short of sending me them for repair and testing. They need to be tried in a set that's known to be working, under load and normal operating conditions. Email me at curtpalme at shaw.ca. I'm out of town for 2 weeks as of Weds, but it will take about 10 days for them to get to me anyway.

Adding pics to make sure I'm looking at the right things. The pj is ceiling mounted making oh so much fun...
The grey thing with "good" on it is the quadrupiler? That's what I've figured out from the info on your site, I think...

Yes, that's it. Make sure you unsolder both points on the white wire on the splitter. DO NOT cut it. It's Teflon coated, and is a bitch to splice.
