Ok. Will send you a PM.

One other thing. I noticed while the menus/test patterns were up, the imagine had a very slight "jitter". I don't remember that last time I fired it up.

Meant to reply to this the other day. Thatll quite likely be the deflection yoke connections on the DEF board, easily fixed, take the 3 connectors off and clean the pins, then put them back on.

He's missing a dot in that pattern... Never saw that before with my XG!

It could be a weird system board problem, that holds down the red tube too, however this is very-very unlikely.

Hey guys. Not sure about the missing pixel - I'll look into that if and when I get the red working. UPDATE! On another note - today I systematically swapped out every board one at a time, including the 2 boards on top that flip up to expose the tubes. SAME THING. No red.

SO, my guess is it is either the tube itself, or one of the small boards between the tubes. Is that a possibility? The next step is to swap everything into another chassis I have. I'll leave its red in place, and swap everything else over. Its mostly complete, so I'd just need to mostly swap the green and blue tubes.

Question I have regarding the red on the other unit. It has light to medium wear on the red, but has a "circle" right in the middle of the tube. It doesn't look like a traditional burn or wear - could it be glycol crystallization?

thanks for your patience

Jon

That pattern could be because of lost vacuum in the tube, which definately makes it inoperable.

I've got that circle too, in the green tube.
I just figured some previous owner must have really liked projecting circles or something.
No clue either what it is, but I'd be interested to know.
