|
|
Been a while since I've been here, if not for the emails, I'd have never found my way back.
My problem comes from a lightning strike about 2 years ago. It took out my TV and I just put it in storage. It made a repeating clicking sound (I now know is RLY8002 on the power supply board) and nothing else. I was cleaning up around the house and ran into this tv, for a jolly I plugged it in. It powered up and the screen was just coming on (less than a second) and it went back to the same clicking sound. I've taken the back off of it and found three fuses on the power supply board, all were good, and one on another board that was good also. Internet searches tend to point to blown capacitors but I see no physical evidence of this after a good physical inspection. This would make since though seeing the failure happened right after the lightning storm that took out a good many of the houses electronics. I've gone as far as my limited knowledge has allowed me to go, I ask for suggestions on what to look at and what to test.
The machine is a Vizio VP422 HDTV10A, after removing the back cover I see its guts are Samsung. I have the back off of it and am ready for a little guidance. I have no literature on it so I'm flying blind. The best I could do to help you guys would be to post pictures if needed
Thanks in advance.

After doing a bit more troubleshooting, I find the clicking stops when I remove the wiring harness that goes to the mainboard from the power supply board. I'd still like to find a problem short of blindly replacing the mainboard.

Do you have a multimeter to test voltages or shorts on the boards?
Cheers
