|
|
I have a 1272 Sony with about 6500 hours on it. Very pleased with the picture.
Several months ago the blue & green tube quit working.
My tech removed the circuit boards & cleaned the contacts, then reinstalled them. The set worked fine then for a few months.
But Now I'm having the same problem. Blue color was real light one day , now only the red color shows up on the screen.
Before I pay to have this checked again, Any idea if something on the boards is wearing out? Or some other part?
Not sure how to proceed. I'm not a tech person either.
Any ideas appreciated. Larry

Do the test patterns come up on all tubes, or are they just red as well.
IT's a bit surprising that you've actually found a tech that works on these. Chances are the CA(g) and CA(B) boards are intermittent. they may need replacing, but this is something you could do yourself if you want. INstructions are here:

The test pattern is on screen, but barely visable. The screen in just red in color and very hard to see. If I turn the brightness up all the way it is better
Tech set my pj up years ago. I don't know if he does actual repairs, but he did a great job setting everything up from scratch.
Can I buy new boards? How much are they?

Probably a lateral move pic quality wise Larry but there's a Zenith pro-900 thirty minutes from you in Roseville, Ceiling mount bracket, remotes, etc. Offer $100. for it .........

BTW, shorter Throw on this so it will have to sit about 2 feet closer than your Sony

Thanks, but I'll keep the Sony. You have no idea what I went thru to get it mounted on a vaulted ceiling. Not going thru that again!

Good idea, they are pretty good projectors for what they are. Its a better machine than a Zenith PRO 900x is too...
