Some of the high end Champagne Pioneer components that costs a lot here because they are so rare, are litterally dirt cheap in Japan. So yes, I am sure this is true almost anywhere.
And I would have been willing to compensate at whatever cost he requested, but he outright said no, and to me no means no
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would have been willing to pay whatever the cost necessary (within reason of course) would be to get the PJ. However, since he said he was going to TOSS them in the TRASH, I figured if I OFFERED $$$ to keep that from happening and have them sent up here that would be fair. Its not like I was saying "Yeah, hold those for me, I'll pick them up in a week"
Everyone should be compensated for their hard work

I'm working way too much overtime right now to drive twenty miles extra and try to package or part out or palletize anything in the dark. The sun sets at about seven pm here now and I can't get there before then. There are no lights other than my truck headlights and a flashlight. The short daylight hours on my one day off that I do have available are used for more important things. I just don't have the time.

THing is, a trucking company won't pick them up just sitting on a pallet. Something has to cover them (cardboard is fine) and they need to be roped down, in order for them to get picked up.
No question this is my bad, I have indeed been promising to come down for the last 3 years to grab them, so if anyone is in the area that can grab them for me, I'd shoot them and JK a few $$ for the effort.
AND.. I'd buy dinner at that awesome steak shack that we went to 3 years ago. This time I won't get the damn flu, and I'll enjoy the steak.

Id have been happy to pay the shipping and packaging costs on that RUNCO, had i have known about it.
Im glad some sort of arangement has been made too, cause i dont like to read things like this. I know all too well about working long hours, ive had 2 days off this year so far and averaging 10 hours a day on my 6 rostered days, then whatever callouts on sundays.

Case, I might still flip it. I don't have a 1209s chassis right now so that's why I am taking it, but we'll see if I end up using it...

Guys, I've paid some $$ for the projectors at this point. Blue Z, I don't think I really need the DWIN, unless the tubes are perfect, then I'l take it North with me. I'd be happy to sell it to you for what it's costing me (about $100) if it shows slight tube wear.
Almost positive I'll part the 8500 out on site, and will only take parts up with me, I'll be taking the 1101 with me for sure.

Blue z, if you make a deal with Curt you can pick up the DWIN if you come down tomorrow afternoon. All three belong to him now. I'll be going to Keno's for dinner so sometime around 4 might be best for me. Sorry but I acccidentally deleted your voicemail. My number is 760-803-8554.

Curt has saved those CRTs from the dumpster!
And thanks to Curt and Jon, I now have a DWIN HD700 to play with (plus remote, manual and cables).
Also got to hang out with these two cool guys at Captain Keno's. Curt sure has a lot of interesting stories to tell.
Thanks guys.

None, you pervert!
It's been an amazing trip so far. This time is was not so much about what I saw I(although the Camp Pendleton simulator was way cool), it was about the people I met. It's funny, in high school I was a complete introvert, didn't talk to anyone save for mu Chinese friend that etched PC boards with me in the basement. Zero dating, I didn't go to any of the graduation functions because I didn't give a sh*t.
Now I tend to babble on too much, and find people that I meet through this CRT thing fascinating, to see the lives that other people lead.
But I did realize that I'm going to dump about 40% of my CRT stock when I get home. I'm getting rid of every ES focusing set I have along with the parts thereof. Free/cheap, and time to fill maybe 3 dumpsters full of junk.
THe thing about 4000 mile road trips (this one is a short one) is you get to do a lot of thinking. Seeing the successful lives that others lead, and the gorgeous places that I've been to on this trip,. it's time to clean house. Literally and figuratively. I will send an email out once I get back listing what I'm dumping, and I'll give everyone a week to get what they want. There's simply no sense in hanging onto parts and stuff that I've had since before I bought my house almost 12 years ago.
Tinman has done the same thing since I was at his place last. He had more than a few square feet of floor space in his shop, which he didn't have before. I need to do that too!

Good for you, Curt! We're cleaning house this summer, too. Between my wife and me, we've filled our basement so full of sh*t, we can't even move around easily in parts of the basement. It's ridiculous.
Last summer, I got rid of some stuff - enough to clean up a space and make an entire 12x12 office for myself, and I was so much happier. That was all just wasted space... Boxes, magazines, parts, 'stuff'... Just a bunch of crap. Yeah, I probably got rid of a couple of things I would have liked to save or play with once or twice a year, but in return I got an entire ROOM of space that I can move around in, be comfortable in, and enjoy 365 days/year.
Do it. You'll feel better about your house, and yourself.
