Funny, Athanasios... Loved the double-post. Laughing

So, were you able to reset it, Jeff? And now it's telling you it can't detect two different speakers?

I was able to reset it. Everything was cleared. Nothing is helping, I think I just got a bad amp. Too bad, I really like Audessey on movies.

What really sucks is I really love the Integra. It is easy to set up and use and has great AV features, even with this problem I would buy another.

So, sell it off as "working fine with noted issues", and buy a different one. I'm not an Integra fan-boy, but they do build a pretty nice piece of gear. Good value in the grand scheme, and even better if you trade the Integra name for an Onkyo name.

Jeff, are you using, 5, or 7, channels of separate power amps at this point? Or some amplification from the AVR and Amps in combo?

I'm asking because I have a Onkyo PR 885 pre-pro I was considering selling. I 've got the Onkyo 885 pre-pro, an Arcam AV-9 Pre-pro, and now, the Oppo BDP-105 that is it's own pre-pro. That's alotta pre-pro's. I don't need them all.

Onkyo 885 is a very nice piece. Similar to my Onkyo DHC-9.9.

Crabb, aren't you selling your pre-pro also? Integra 9.9? That's a really good piece too.

Jeff, I think it's time for you to go all separates, you appear to be there already. Except for the pre-pro that is.

Also failing to recognize only one pair of speakers sounds more like a missed/selected button push. You may have a default of 5.1 set on an output in one of the sub menus...somewhere.

Jeff. also check out page 44 of your manual. If you have Bi-amp selected you won't have rears available, or the proper signal to you fronts either.

It changes which speaker or speakers it wont recognize randomly. Except for the front channel. It always gets them.(so far) Not set on bi amp.

The integra has an ethernet port for updates I presume but I have no ethernet in the basement nor a 60 ft cord to reach it, I have a USB wireless, Do they make an adapter I would like to try to update the firmware to see if that helps.

Hey, Jeff -

The older generation Onkyo/Integras are a PITA to do firmware updates. RS-232 serial-only, and the updates are almost impossible to find.

I'd probably sell it as-is on ebay, and find little newer piece.

Thanks Steve, I was hoping a firmware update might fix the Audessey problem.

Yeah, I know... Good thinking. I have no idea why they made it so difficult, but the older Onkyo/Integras are a total pain in the ass from a firmware standpoint. An older model like yours – if you could find firmware at all – would probably take several different updates. Worse, Audyssey is completely separate, and you have to do the sequence of updates in the correct sequence, and only the correct sequence.

To top it all off, it was extremely unforgiving in that if anything is interrupted or it fails to load/install properly, or you load something in the wrong order, you can brick the receiver. Some of the Onkyo/Integra threads from a few years ago had a number of guys who bricked their receivers or processors just trying to install firmware.

I never even bothered to upgrade my DHC-9.9 because it didn't suffer any of the known issues and I didn't feel it was worth the risk.

The stuff from the last couple of years is all far superior in this regard. Most will now just get their own updates from a server on the internet, right from the remote control... You know... Like Blu-ray players have been doing for years. Rolling Eyes

So I am back to this again. I really miss the Audessey. I found a thread over on AVS and tried EVERYTHING. It is only not recognizing the center now repeatedly. I found a shop reasonably close that repairs electronics, nice guys and reasonable prices. They got my Yamaha amps all sounding sweet. I spent a lot of time with a tape measure and a meter and don't get me wrong it sounds pretty damn good. But it aint Audessey good. So I think I might start shopping. I don't need amplification I got that covered in spades. I want something clean that switches HDMI and has Audessey and aint a complete nightmare to operate. I really like the integra if it just worked. I am also on a tight budget with summer coming theres so much to do outdoors. I saw a ONKYO on Craigslist for 100 bucks but I am really leary of CL.
