I'm not much into high end audio but i'm trying to ebay and yardsale myself into some better stuff. Question is do i need a graphics equalizer? I read a lot about amplifiers and speakers, not so much about equalizers. I have a Kenwood ge-7020 that seems pretty cool. Thoughts?

If you really want cool, go pro, and get a DSP (digital signal processor).

WIll seem like overkill, as it's from 2 in 2 out to 8 in 8 out, with eq, crossover, time delay, blah blah all in one box.

I use a company called www.xilica.com, and had one 3 in 6 out unit for sale for $400. For what you get, it was a good deal, and there's piles on eBay. dbx, Community, Crown, Peavey, etc, just about everyone makes one at this point, and they are being upgraded all the time, and they lose value like crazy.

These days I much prefer using a parametric eq to flatten out frequency response. 4 bands is usually plenty per channel.

Also, unless you have a real time spectrum analyzer (also pretty cheap on eBay), your ear isn't going to do much to properly set more than a 10 band eq.

Here, cheeep!
