|
|
So, a friend of mine has sort of a Buddhist outlook on life, to better the life of people around here, etc, which to me is a pretty good way to live I think.
So after the phone call I just received, on top of the other 5 or so calls and emails over the last 2 weeks, my mission in life is very clear now:
TO GET EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU INTO A G90!
Sadly, there is a paltry price attached to this mission, but it's very reasonable (IMHO).
In the last 2 weeks, I've got offers to buy at least 10 G90s, ranging from 200 to 9000 hours. I've said yes to every one of them, and starting next week they are INCOMING!
First mission will be to put at least one on my ceiling. Canada has had excessive tube envy of Cliffy, but that's about to change. If I can convince my fearless helper to add more plywood to the ceiling, a pair is going up, and maybe a third (and fourth) on the floor.
FH Video has nuffin' on me!

So will this be a church of the G90 or a full on cult?

Let me know if you still need a YA Curt. I have at least one extra good one right now. I sent pottzman an email offering one to him, but I haven't heard back yet.
Getting everyone into a G90 would be really good. Then we wouldn't have to hear about broken Marquees anymore

Heyyyyyy!
I'll take that 90% working one for sure for my test set. Make your 100% working one available to someone else if they want it, as I am now most likely scrapping the burnt tube/bad YA board set that I have here. No point in spending big $$ to get it running if there's a pile of other sets that I can buy.
Oh, and the client in Seattle that has the latest two G90s that I'll go grab switched to a Sony 4K !!!! He's looking for the secondary access to the color calibration controls. He's been using William Phelps, but I'll give him your name as well. Worked on one of those yet?

Oh, shouldn't the only people to respond this thread be G90 owners?

I know something about new tubes that you don't. Bahahahahahaha! Sorry, they're not for sale as tubes, but it does bring the price of retubed 9" set down to lower than ever before....

Man A G90 would be sweet, I just hooked a PC up to my XG using the DVD VP30 for the first time. To be honest, I expected that it would be too soft, lettering would be hard to read, and I would be severely dissapointed (PC never seemed to look good on the 1272 or even the PG series).
To my astonishment it looked so damn good I had a hard time leaving the projector and wound up going to bed around 4AM oogling the PQ.
Now that I've experienced a PC on a CRT, I want a G90 dammit. The question is, what is this paltry price you are asking Curt?
Ill bet your paying less for your G90s than FH Video is charging for theirs, new or not, I'd trust a G90 from curt first

I want to ask how low, but I probably wont get that answer anyway
If you get the G90 in my price range, then we're talking

Well I've been selling new G and B tubed G90s for $4500. REds are either mint, or very low hour LUGs.
I managed to score a bunch of NOS tubes, 8 and 9", so I'm guessing that a fully retubed set, all new 0 hour tubes will be $4K, less if the set only needs G and B, and the 200 and 500 hour sets I'm getting in, I expect to be perfect, so somewhere slightly under $4K for those two.
Start saving your $$! If I do get 10 G90s in here, I don't have the freakin' room, so I want to blow them out fast.
But first, send me the $$ for the Pioneer cassette deck!

Are you kidding? Me get anything done for myself? I'm always dealing with you cretins... I mean valued customers.
Seriously, between cleaning, repairs and sales and catching up on emails, there's never any time. This past weekend was spent fighting with my DSP controller unit and doing repairs. Now I'm building another rack, did repairs, and need to send a projector out on Friday.
Heck, I still haven't even installed the free satellite radio I got for my new car. The G90 will be on the bench this weekend though to get tubes put into it. Maaaaybe it will go on the ceiling....

Delivery alone is $1000. I'm usually into the sets for $1K or so, so about $2K. red tube would be good, G and B would need replacing.
