There are VGA to RGBHV cables so you can connect your laptop to it without any problem -cheapest. If you want to use a device which only have digital HD output then you must have a transcoder, probably your best bet is a HDFury I or similar that is only a 50$ toy and will give sufucient image quality for your machine.

mx83toy, explain all the crt love to me? I have never owned a projector of any type. Why is CRT so much better than DLP or LCD assuming they produce same resolution? What are the advantages?

Nowadays it is not quite true that CRT is still the ultimate technology, however they still have strengths that are wellcomed in home theater applications.
Pros:
-tubes can last ~10000hrs depending on usage (compared to 2-5000hrs of bulb life with a digital pj).
-good color reproduction.
-no visible pixels
-good on/off contrast (the black is really black, not grey as on many digital pj).
-it can be repaired if anything go wrong, the chassis can serve a few set of tubes out.
-good motion resolution.
-good depth of field effect.
Cons:
-need constant maintaining (convergence touch up).
-low light output.
-constant images can burn in permanently in tubes.
-relitevly large, heavy and loud machines.

First not better....different...
Kinda like a Ferrari is better or worse that a rolls royce argument... you'll be there for ever
well my love for em comes from the fact that they are so smooth and realistic (funny enough also that they are so hands on) I just loved that the fist page i turned too in the manual was a diag of how to pull it apart!!!!!, this comes at a cost of brightness and a few other things but its a trade off im ok with as i black out my room and work alot so only really watch movies at night....
resolution is nomally reffered to as how many pixels this way vs that way but crt draws the image its not switching the colour of a fixed pixel to and from rgb inseat you get this beautiful smeltering of colour that hapens on the screen... like i said its different..... and i like it

Here are the pics of all tubes. Looks OK. Definitely not 100 hrs of use but looks like a 6 or 7 based on the tube wear guide from this site. What do you guys think? Some life left in this thing?

Oh yeah, you're good to go with those tubes. Maybe 3000 hours on them of 'on' time.

Definately not. To be honest I hardly can imagine a device which could work with that cable. I am not an expert in playstation 3, but it should have component output (Y, Pb, Pr). And you can add the 'IFB-12' input card to your sony (cheaply) which accepts component input however I am not sure if it can handle 1080i, others may also chimne in with the info.
