I haven't gone to see it yet but asked the seller about his throw distance.

The seller said that his G90 has always been 18 ft. ( 216") from a 120" screen.
This sounds strange to me as the installation manual states that the default for 120" screen should be 129 1/8 inches (lenses to screen)

If I am reading this correctly.
It would indicate that the Phosphor is definitely not maxed out and at that distance those tubes would have to be over driven to light up 120" screen from 18 feet away?

Does that make sense?

Thanks

You're right, I'd assume his screen is 120" wide, but 18' back is still too far, and 120" wide is insanely large. I'd expect worn G and B tubes.

It is a long story. Right now I am gutting a condo and it is taking more time than I thought. Hopefully I will be done soon and then I will have a Crabb decision to make on whether to keep the G90 or go JVC.

WHAT!

You have to use the G90.

Yeah, chances are you will need all three tubes replaced.

Hi could also be pulling numbers out of the air and be completely off on screen size and throw. It's more likely that he has a 120"-diag screen than a 120" wide screen; 120" wide would have been very atypical 5 or 10 years ago when that machine was probably hung. And throw distance? Some people wouldn't have a clue what 10 or 11 feet versus 17 or 18 feet looked like. I know everything in my room almost down to the inch because I built it all from scratch, but most people aren't like that.

I hope you are right, but the seller did put this pic in his auction.

However, that pic does look very familiar.
I swear I have seen it some where years ago.
Maybe he just grabbed it from the internet?

The orientation of the pic could be off 90 degrees to the right.
Could it be an air bubble in the glycol ?

Could be an air bubble, but I think the machine would have be standing on its tail, lenses up in the air, to have the bubble come out in that orientation, shape, and size.

Very strange.

That is indeed what it looks like. It's too large to be a melted spot IMHO.

I am new here and just bought this G90. I think it has problems with the lamps. Is there a way to fix this? Mr. Green

Well, if the OP was the seller, then his thread/ad may have worked.

I'm not going to go into detail, but I did a few minutes of research and I can say with confidence that I know with certainty the identity of the seller.

On whether the the seller was also the OP, I can't say with 100% certainty, but would go so far as to say extremely likely. In fact, I'd say it's highly unlikely the OP isn't also the seller.

This thread should have been shut down right at the beginning.
