Ok I finally have all of my alignment, focus, and placement all set up. I am running a 1208/s. As for a processor its a Key Digital Leeza HD1080p (Not sure of the actual model number but that is close). I have a run off on the edge of the left side of the screen that is purple (red/blue) but no green. On the right hand side of the screen i have a corner that is yellow. Also I noticed that the green does not like to be "square" it is round on the corners. Any ideas on what that might be. Also need some help with color. I either get to much red or to much blue. I can not get it right.

It sounds like your image is set too wide, which is running the picture off the edge of the tube face. That's why you're missing some of the color s at the edges. Shrink the width overall with the size control so that you're on the tube face. If your pix is too narrow for the screen now, you'll need to move the set back a bit. Start with that, we'll deal with the color balance once you get the width right.

IF you keep running the way you are, it's possible to implode one of the tubes. You don't want to do that.

I tried to download the "throw distance calculator" to make sure that I have the correct distance for the screen I want. The problem is that I am running windows 7 and it will not open. Is there a download that will work with my laptop? Or is there another way that I can figure out exactly how far I need to be so that I will have the size that I am trying for.

Hi,

You could try to install it in Windows 7's XP mode (http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7).
If this doesn't work for You: The Installation manual could be of help (http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/BarcoGraphics1208_Install.pdf). Look up the distance calculations starting at page 10 of the PDF...

Regards,

Was finally able to get the dimentions figured out and Curt you were right my screen is WAY to big. I read through the manual and it said there was a "screen size" adjustment and when I went into my settings I do not have that setting. Am I doing something wrong or is there something missing? Or could it be that I am just blind and not seeing it?

The throw is roughly 1.4 X the width of the screen. YEs, you have a width setting in the menus, it's in the 'geometry' menu under 'H size'.

Set that to 50%, and your raster with the test pattern should cover approx this:

http://curtpalme.com/TubeRasterSetup3.shtm

I'll bet you're wayyy too wide at 50%. If so, tweak the H width control on the power supply:

http://curtpalme.com/Barco808_Layout6.shtm

ON the 1208, that width control is in a slightly different place, it's recessed on the board about an inch or so, and slightly to the right of where the one in the above pix is, but with an insulated screwdriver shaft, you can adjust it with the SMPS still in the set. Or, you can take it out, tweak the pot slightly CCW (maybe 1/8 turn or so), reinstall it, and try it again. if you go too far, the red LED on the G2 board will light up, indicating a scan fail, because the pix will shut down if the width is too narrow. The pot is a bit sensitive on the 1208 sets, so tweak it a bit at a time until you get it right.

Would that also be why green looks like a "bubble" on both sides of the screen?

For right now it's just a white sheet until I either decide to buy a screen or make one. Haven't decided yet

I will have to look around for a black and white movie. I do not have a test disc yet. Is there anywhere to download it?
Also how do I upload pictures because I can only take them with my phone and last time I tried said they were to big to upload.

Get one of these discs:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Avia-Guide-to-Home-Theater-DVD-1999-/261134329915?pt=US_DVD_HD_DVD_Blu_ray&hash=item3cccd1a83b

They're usually on eBay once a week or so, none there right now of course.

AS to the pix files, you'll have to shrink them on your computer to something like 640 X 480 to post them here.

What you need is what's called a stepped gray scale:

http://curtpalme.com/ES_Tube_Projector_Gray_Scale_Adjustment1.shtm

My guess is that you're not close to a good b/w balance. If you're any good with a paint type program, you can probably make one of these stepped gray scales up yourself.

Ok so I got the Avai Guide. When I went to the basement to run the disc I turned everything on and plugged in my converter from HDMI to VGA converter to the processor which is plugged into port 4. Everything seemed to start up fine and then all of a sudden it all went black. All of my tubes shut off and there is a red light on one of the boards. I think to myself "Oh NO". Well I unplugged everything and started again, still nothing is working on port 4. I assume that port took a poop on me. My question is what is the difference between 4 and 5? When I switched to port 5 the tubes started up again and I got my picture. My question is what is the differences between 4 and 5? Would I be able to run with 5 after getting everthing set back up like I had it on 4?

On a side note : Where is the "G2" adjustments on a 1208/2?

Hold everything! A red light on 'a' board? How about 'WHICH' board? Smile

Could be trouble, could be nothing at all.

From what I can tell by looking at the "Layout" section of the forum it is the "Vertical" board and also on the "Focus" board. It is the second light from the right going left if that makes sense.

OK, ignore the light on the V board. The light on the focus/G2 board is bad. That means the set is in scan fail mode. See if the light comes on right away as you turn the set on, or if it comes on a few seconds after the set fires up. Chances are either the H or V board has failed, causing a 'scan fail' mode.

It only comes on when switched over to port 4. When I switch over to 5 it goes away. As far as when it comes on it takes a couple seconds before it comes on. You can hear the unit trying to start up and shut off and then try to start again and then off. Does this a couple of times and then stops. The red light only comes on when it shuts off. When the pj trys to start up it shuts off again and then back on
