Hi guys a 1292Q has come up for sale and was wondering what to look out for with it? it states a bubble in the red tube

FROM THE ADD

" The bubble on red is very small of all those who have watched movies I am yhe only one who notices it , it creates a slight red blurr in the middle of the screen The bubble was caused when sunlight got directly on the tube about 5 years ago. I will try for photos difficult as it is still on the ceiling. Hours are reasonably low compared with the normal life time of these tubes. "

i'll have to go for a 12 hour "each way" drive over a weekend to pick it up so i don't want to go if its not worth my while!!! is this fixable??? ive only ever seen my barco cine 7 when it comes to crt and love it...(i was very late to the game) how much better will the picture be with this? Was planning a 2 x cine 7 stack originally (it all i can get my hands on atm) but this has come up should i scrap the barco idea and go for the one 1292? i plan to run a screen thats 16:9 and about 2.5 to 3m wide in a dark dedicated theater room will this be enough, most of my movies are bluray 1080p and some dvd ????

if i get this machine i might go strait for a moome card and work with hdmi only (let my receiver do the switching) would this be recommended?

Overall reliable sets more or less but tubes are not available, so if they have low emission or wear, you're more or less stuck with them. The red issue is a burned C element because someone pointed the lenses at the sun. Hard to find a good red C element, but you could replace it with a clear one that I've got lots of. Your reds will turn a tiny bit oranger without the extra red coloring of the C element.

I can't sell a near mint set on eBay now for $1000, so you'd better pay $100-200 for that one WITH a remote.

ok cool yeah they are asking for 100 dollars so far with remote and if i do grab it i'll definantly be grabbing that moome card off you i only need a single input my reciever switches for me....(Warning going off topic) otherwise i'll be grabbing that splitter off you for the cine 7 and just stick with it ( I still prefer it over digital even though its a little 7 incher) If i stay with the cine 7 (8 and 9" ers are hard to get here) i'll be getting a second cine 7 to go as big as possible with the 2 of em...

The pinout's are the same. Only thing is the shape of the bell housing is different and
not sure where the HV lead comes out on the original sony tubes. If getting the lead to
line up with the neck board socket is important, that needs to be addressed as well.
the Thomas tubes HV lead is in the same location as LCP's and LUG's.

they are also pretty noisy. Fan noise.

Here are pictures of the tubes the boxes were sealed I just opened them to take the pictures and make sure the were OK

Do those have the 1292 LC hardware on them? It doesn't look like they do. I've never taken a 1292 tube out of the housing, it could be easy or really difficult. Anyone done it?
