If I go with a JVC it will absolutely be a 2013 model with the new style lamp, like the X-55R for the same price as the 4810.

I'd PM CIR and see what his thoughts are. He's calibrated just about everything out there..

Ok, so yesterday My new Runco VX-3000i came in. Today I put up the U channel brackets and fit the plywood in place. [Thanks Crabb for that idea]

I took the easy road on that plywood. I had a piece of 3/4" oak 17 1/2" x 23" left laying around from building shelves, I went to my local printer and had them download the CAD drawing and blow up the bottom plate to actual size and printed it out. Then I brought it home and did two quick center lines on the plywood, taped the printout on center, drilled the four mounting bolt holes and done.

The U Channel was a little more interesting. I drilled holes @16" OC and put in up over three joists. I started in the center a known joist and when I went to screw into the others I was off by 1 1/2 inches. Now there's no one to blame here but me, either I drilled the Aluminum wrong, or I failed to supervise the framer's during the building of my house... Because I built it.

I think it is the framing though, it looks like two of the roof cross ties are on opposite sides of the roof rafters. i.e, one is on the front side looking forward and the next is on the rear side adding that 1 1/2" to the spread. Not a big deal just a "little off".

Tomorrow, I put the electric to the ceiling and finally bring GOZER down Crying or Very sad which is now blocking the light path.

I did the whole placement on the floor first just like CRT. I placed the lens at the center of travel, found it a little less focused then I liked at that throw, moved it a coupled of inches and found the sweet spot of the lens exactly 2.0 throw ratio Thumbs Up

First thing is, WOW this thing is Bright... really bright. I had to put the bulb in LOW mode, 170 watts, close the iris and back off the contrast and brightness, Its now OK , more tweaking to be done later.

Do I miss the CRT blacks? Kinda. Was the 9" inch Machine better overall? To be determined. The picture quality is on par but sooo much sharper and brighter, it will take time to be sure which one was/is better. Right now its a tie. Strength for strength they are just too different to call one inferior to the other.

The DLP sure was easy to set-up and get on the ceiling though Razz

Once the grey matter box lights up the same screen that was once shined upon by the phosphor light of a CRT
you may no longer have the honor of displaying a CRT in your Sig. If you have another set up with a CRT and no Grey matter box has shown its grey side on the screen you have the honor still. Wink
