TV/Projector: All of them!

Posted: Sun Jan 06, 2013 5:51 pm    Post subject: G70 owners take note!

I’ve had 2 customers now complain about the following:

Error code 30 on a G70, but only when attempting to do 1080p. All other resolutions are OK. A 30 error code usually indicates a bad DC board (convergence), but replacement of the convergence board doesn’t get rid of the issue.

It seems that a memory location in the G70 can be corrupted, and it needs to be deleted. This memory is located on the Ya/Yb boards , but can be deleted in the following manner:

Short Version:
1 - Cover infrared receiver on the Moome card. (if you’re using one)

2 - Without a signal. (BR Player/ PS3 and Receiver disconnected)

3 -
a) enter into Service Control Mode = Enter Enter Up down Enter.
b) enter into Special Service Control Mode = Enter Enter Left Right Enter
c) go into "input Info"
d) Delete the memory that the Pj originally assigned to 1080p. ( if by any change the pj has created more than one 1080p memory, delete them too )
e) Turn PJ off.

3 - Reconnect and turn on BR Player/ PS3 and Receiver.
Turn on Pj and let the Pj sync and create a new 1080p memory.
Redo all focus and convergence.

4 - Remove Cover from infrared receiver on the Moome card.

The first customer that had this issue, we went through multiple shipments of parts and massive frustration before he figured out what was going on, so if you run across this, this should be the solution.

Does the D50 also have that menu and the same/similar menu structure? My GF's D50 stopped syncing to 1024x768 suddenly. All other res' are OK ( line doubled, 1080i )

There is no Special Service Control Mode (Enter Enter Left Right Enter) if you have old firmware. I’d either use my EProm programmer or have to zap all settings via the little switch on the controller board.
(Old firmware = access to G2)
Fortunately I am not affected. Phew!

Thanks for the heads-up Curt.

I updated the 'ol G70 Owner's Thread error section with a link to this thread, too.

Leaves me a bit sentimental... Sniff, sniff.
